Friday 7th September and we walked along here on our way from the Port to the Cathedral. In fairness there was not a great deal to see, there were a few stalls selling over priced souvenirs and items pertaining to be traditionally Norwegian. One of...More

This is a pretty square between the harbor and the cathedral with some vendors and an interesting sculpture. Atop a tall column is a metal sculpture that our guide told us was a shrimp. I think you have to use your imagination.

Not much else to do in this town. Pretty enough area by the water where all the tourists congregate and get food.

Some of the local goods are somewhat interesting but nothing that great. The square is small; the farmer's market part had some nice looking veggies and fruit. This was, for us, just a wallk-through on our way back to our cruise ship.

The plaza is right between the Cathedral and the harbor in Stavanger, you won't miss it especially is you arrive on a cruise ship. Not too many vendors and the merchandise were quite expensive. The beautiful view of the harbor can be seen here.

It used to be a market square, now it is notting. It is cold and windy (wind from north) and usually empty. In peak season you can experience awful white tents, offering "china" souvenirs you really don't wan't to buy.
