About
From the Varden viewpoint (407 metres above sea level) there is a good view of the town of Molde, the fjord and islands and the famous Molde panorama with its 222 partially snow-clad peaks. On clear days you can see as far as the fishing village of Ona and the dreaded waters of Hustadvika. Ten minutes by car or an hour's walk along the nature trail from the centre of Molde. The Vardestua restaurant is at the top and marked trails take you into the Moldemarka countryside.

We did this hike as a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children- 6 and 10.) We hiked from the cruise port to the top and back! It was a challenging hike and the weather changed multiple times during our hike- but we were prepared for the Norweigian weather changes. We left in the morning and saw few people on our way up- but lots more people on the way down as many people get a ride up. There is a grocery store on the way from the cruise port- stop and pick up some snacks!

The hike was a challenge for my 6 year old, but with water breaks and snack stops it was do-able. We appreciated the challenge of hiking it ourselves and seeing the absolutely stunning views!

It took at least 3 hours round trip.

The guide books that tell you it's an easy walk that takes about an hour lie! It's a beautiful walk but it is very steep at points. It's really well signposted, and the views are stunning.

We took a 10min cab ride to the scenic lookout from our cruise ship. It’s a great place to take in the scenic views of the town and mountains. Would recommend if you are ever in Molde.

The views and pictures speak for themselves. Amazing place. Go early morning to avoid any crowds, drive or hike. Really shows the beauty of this stunning country. Also avoid days when cruise ship fools are about ruining the peace of a wonderfully quaint town.

One of the most beautiful viewpoints on earth! You can go up by car or just walk. You have a 360 degree view and can start a walk from the viewpoint. There is a café, but we didn't go in there. We spend all the time looking and taking pictures

Use 1 day to go to this butiful point with a view across the mountains. On the top it is a place where you can get something to drink and also enjoy a fresh norwegian waffel with strawberry jam or other flawors. At my stay here the weather was very good with sunshine and nice temperature.Remember to have good shoes...some walking on small stones and some rocks..

If you are blessed by good weather this is a great spot to see all that surrounds the Molde area. Easy to get to by car or a bit of a walk.

A long walk up to the top up but a beautiful experience. At the top there is a restaurant where you can have something to eat. It was lovely to experience nature as you walked up. If you have the time a must.

We cheated a bit. Took a bus up to the viewpoint and walked down. Lovely viewpoint with a panoramic view of the area. Well maintained trail for the walk down to Molde. Well worth the time and effort even on a cloudy day.

We were lucky enough to reach this panoramic view late in the evening on a beautifully clear day. The view of the mountain peaks are very impressive. A great place for a view over the water and the mountains beyond.
