This fjord is very long and one of the most visited fjords in Norway. We used public bus to come to this area from Bergen. Next time we will book a private tour on a vehikle. So many historical places and natural attractions along Hardanger fjord that this is impossible to see the most of them without private transport. We made many photos of the fjord and Steinsdalsfossen waterfall not far from the city of Norheimsund that is an administraitive center there.

We booked a day trip to Rosendal, a fjord town located a couple of miles from Bergen. Not only did we get to see the fjords but we also got to see Rosendal, a charming town. DO NOT GO ON SUNDAY. On Sunday, one of the main attractions, a beautiful castle is closed. That, they did not tell us at the tourist office.

Went through the Hardanger scenic route by bus. Bothe sides along the route offer beautiful views. On the same route you have the Steindalfossen falls

Took ferry to Eidfjord. Great ride and views. Bus from Bergen to Nordhiemsun was easy. Pay on bus with credit card. Don't know if ferry is gong to continue after 16Aug. If not, it would be a real shame. One could spend several days hopping from town to town.

We drove the scenic route along the Hardangerfjord from Granvin down to Odda. The drive was one of the highlights of our honeymoon. As they say, "the journey is the destination". My goodness it was beautiful. We were blessed with incredible weather, but honestly, there was a picture perfect scene around every corner!

Hardangerfjord is one among the many beautiful and scenic fjords of Western Norway. I have been there before but a very long time ago. It was great to be reacquainted with it.

Do it yourself meet & greet at Bergen airport because there is no Hurtigruten rep waiting for you to arrive. Then you have to find the correct bus stop yourself and hope for a bus to take you to the ship. No other cruise company that I know of treats it’s customers like that. I’ll go with Viking next time!!

Hola.

Hi! my friend and i are going to Bergen in late october, and although our stay will be short we would like to see the fjords. My questions are: can we see them spending less than NOK800-1000? (without involving trip-organisations if necessary) For example, can we reach a fjord through public transportation and go hiking? but yet is it recommended to go hiking in october considering the weather and the early sunset? any advice/ warnings/ plan idea/ examples are appreciated!!

Everything is accessible via public transportation, you just need to take the time to make the right connections. I was too lazy for that. The systems were wonderful - clean & comfortable - and the connections were very good. But it took a combination of; bus - ferry - bus to get there and bus - ferry - bus - train to get back.
October can be nice for hiking, or it could be quite cold and very wet. It all gets pretty iffy outside of the summer season.

We are doing a day trip from Bergen to Flam via the Hardangerfjord area. What would be the best route to take for this trip so that we cover the best attractions and the most scenic part of the route? We would not mind driving 6-7 hours and also stopping for the attractions.

I don’t know the boat details! I have never heard of a boat connection tomHardanger fjord.,I have only ever driven that way so reckon on 2 hours to get to the general area and a few hours to drive around the fjord on quite narrow roads..

Hi - We will be staying in Bergen in August. Did you take a boat ride from Bergen to this Fjord? Is so, how long was it and do you remember the company? There is one listed on this website. Thanks in advance.

We came by ship so already saw it. The tourist center is great. Why don't you email them?
