Ole Bull's Villa on Lysoen Island, south of Bergen, is a beautiful building built with many different architectural characteristics, taken from his travels to different countries around the world. The drive from Bergen is very picturesque, with narrow, winding roads through hilly terrain. The island is just a short boat ride from the mainland. The house contains some of his... More

The boat to the island leaves every hour on the hour (first trip at 11:00), the return trip leaving at the half-hour. Boat trip is 60 NOK and price for a guided tour of the house is also 60 NOK. You can also take your own boat to the island. There are many good walking paths and lovely glades to... More

If you visit Bergen at summer, you must pay the home of the famous musician Ole Bull a visit. It's a historical home with distinctive and great interiour design. The tour to Lysoen takes about 1 hour. On top of Ole Bulls house and musical history, you will enjoy a fantastic nature, both at sea and land. Highly recommended from... More

Even though it is about 25km south of Bergen getting to Lysoen is quite easy even without a car. Take the tram to the end stop at Lagunen where you connect with Bus 62 to Buena. All free with the Bergen card. Just check the bus schedule to link in with your tram journey. We were fortunate to be there... More

The Grand star and violin virtous of the 19th century, Ole Bull, built a summer house at Lysøen island about 45 min drive from Bergen. Ole Bull him self is a fairytale himself and the guided trip gives you an interesting insight into his personality and his life. The house he built is magnificent ans as taken out of a... More

We, a family of 4 with two children (4 and 2) had a lovely half day, accompanied by beautiful sunshine, on the island. Def. check the ferry times online in advance to help planning. We left our car on the car park directly where the little ferry leaves, it takes only around 5-10 minutes. There are different walks you can... More

If you are planning to go Grieg Museum you better go there first. Bull is the guy who "found" Grieg and helped him to start studies. For Norwegians he is even more important than Grieg, and his house on his privat Island makes impression.

The house is gorgeous, and the guides working there have lots of knowledge to explain about Ole Bulls life, so it was fantastic to listen to their explanations. That guide is included in the ticket and starts at 15 past of ever hour during he opening hours there is a small boat trip to the house since it is located... More

Violinist Ole Bull was a major 'pop' star of his day. His female fans loved him so much they were prepared to pay good money for a bottle of his bath water! The house he had built on Lysoen Island is like a wedding cake. It's all curls, twists, turrets, and other confections. Not at all to my taste. Inside... More

We took light rail to appropriate stop but would have had a 2 hour plus wait to get the connecting bus. Check schedule which now sounds obvious but tourist information never mentioned it!
