Big island accessible by ferry going from Aker Brygge. It takes just 10 minutes to get there and zone 1 ticket is enough. During weekends it is a popular beach, picnic spot. On weekdays it is way calmer. It has beautiful nature and pretty impressive...More

It is a great place to spend a quiet afternoon, walk and even bring sandwiches and drinks and relax on the grass. It is accessible by ferry and is very close to the city

Our trip was short, but we really enjoyed our time on the island. We had a lovely walk around the island, taking in the scenery, the old monastery and views. We were fortunate enough to visit on a beautiful sunny day, so we had a...More

It is a small island that is easy to walk around. there are some ruins of a monastery and some nice beaches and swimming spots. In warm weather this is a great destination.

We took the ferry to Hovedoya and found the island to be most enchanting. Gorgeous walking paths, sheep, green grass, trees, and of course beautiful water surrounding this island. An absolutely perfect place to escape the city, relax with a picnic and not deal with...More

This is a great trip from the stop in the centre. A popular summer destination to visit with a few restaurants and a gallery. It is magical if you do not have a lot of time to explore the fjords.

Oslo is a great city but sometimes it can be nice to get away from the busy centre, so take a boat trip to peaceful Hovedoya Island where you can explore and see some beautiful natural surroundings and the monastery ruins. Just make sure you...More

Taking the boat out to see Hovedøya is definitely worth it in the summer. There’s a small beach, some ruins and nice views of both the Oslo fjord and part of Oslo’s skyline.
