We came upon this statue as we wandered around the waterfront of Oslo. FDR was so honored by the Norwegians as a result of his "Look to Norway" speech given during World War II. His speech centers on Norway's courage and resistance during the war.

There is a statue in Oslo of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. It’s a fairly nice statue but it’s still a statue and not a lot to look at. Takes under ten minutes.

We were touring downtown Oslo and came upon a beautiful statue of FDR overlooking the Peace Center and dock area. It is very near the Parliament building and a fortress wall. We had to investigate-- There is a long history here. Norway reveres FDR. He...More

Franklin D. Roosevelt in Oslo? I figured it had to do with something with World War II, and it does. This was one way that Norway said thank you to the United States and F.D.R. for aid that was given to Norway during the war...More

When I took a long walk down by the sound in front of the City Hall, there is a very nice area that you can enjoy right around this area.

The reasons why there is a statue of FDR near the Oslo Harbor is simple: President Roosevelt helped Queen Marthe and her three children - today one is the king of Norway - escape Norway when the Germans invaded Norway. Also, they came and lived...More

We had no idea there was this statue of an American president just off the park steps next to the fortress. Steps away from the pier. Don't know why it was here though. Interesting!?

This is a statue to honor Roosevelt for his support of Norway during world war two. Nothing overwhelming but the location, next city hall in a small park, surrounded by flowers and trees and overlooking Oslo fiord.

A statue is a statue, but where it's located is what's makes it a lot better also. Overlooking the harbour, small flight of stairs to walk up but nothing exhausting . :)
