Although not as mountainous as the West Coast Fjords, Oslo Fjord is in it's own right very attractive. The fjord reaches almost into the city centre. The fjord has many small islands to see and explore but a boat will be required to get to...More
Just to see a part of Oslo Fjord from the Townhall is so good. The Fjors is one of the most beautifull places you can find - and if an opportunity comes to have a boattrip on the Fjors I will do it.
If you like nature, and like bodies of water and boat rides you are sure to have a tremendous time. Make sure you dress warm if you are not going during summer months as it can get quite chilly . I found myself going inside...More
As it was November it was a little chilly on the boat but they were so lovely and gave us blankets. All snuggled up and ready to go off we set around the islands. We had a smaller bit which meant we could get to...More
So the Oslo fjord might not be the spectacular glaciers and Mountains diving straight down into the ocean like the spectacular fjords of Western Norway. But it has its own charm, specially with the beautiful special small Islands every where called "Skjærgården". A boat ride...More
Pick a fine day for the cruise, there a several operators. A fjord tour is a must. When planning to take such a tour be aware of the reduced schedule during off-peak season (and book early in high season).

We were there for a very short period two nights from memory so really only one full day and it was in January. We took a cruise over the fiord and I highly recommend that. Not sure when you are going but in January it was absolutely freezing. The fort near the harbour is well worth a visit. Again due to our timing some of the exhibits were closed, but still very interesting. We stayed right in the centre of the city so it was very easy walking. The palace is worth a visit but I am not sure if it open to the public or just viewing from the outside.
I hope some of this information is useful
