Pick a fine day for the cruise, there a several operators. A fjord tour is a must. When planning to take such a tour be aware of the reduced schedule during off-peak season (and book early in high season).
It is a pleasure to come to Oslo with a ship and sail through the Oslofjord where you can see all those little islands and surprisingly many many houses on it! We have had a sunny sky and the fall leaves were in absolut gorgeous...More
Bundle up for this one! The sights from the water of the greater Oslo area and Fjord were lively. The information provided was very interesting. It’s a great overall tour that gives great ideas for further sightseeing in Oslo.
You cant beat nature. Oslo is beautiful because of its surrounding natural environment. The fjord is massive with loads of different islands to explore and harbour ports to visit. Ferries continually criss cross the fjord connecting people with places.
Basically, you can either enjoy it from the fancy restaurants along Aker Brygge, or go island hopping on a small boat and go for a swim in the fjord. Many other spots to swim from too on the mainland. Recommend being there in summer. Winter...More

You can by the tickets from the machine at the ferry stop. You can use credit cards. You can also by from the app ruter bilett and plan your trip with ruter reise. The Feries are part of the normal public travel offer. You can buy an hour ticket or a day pass. The day pass can be used for all ferries, trams, tubes or busses.

We were there for a very short period two nights from memory so really only one full day and it was in January. We took a cruise over the fiord and I highly recommend that. Not sure when you are going but in January it was absolutely freezing. The fort near the harbour is well worth a visit. Again due to our timing some of the exhibits were closed, but still very interesting. We stayed right in the centre of the city so it was very easy walking. The palace is worth a visit but I am not sure if it open to the public or just viewing from the outside.
I hope some of this information is useful
