Although snow was scarce when we were there, the views from the top of the ski jump tower are extensive, well worth a visit. The little museum is interesting and really well laid out. There is also a simulator ride you can do (separate from the museum so there is an extra cost) which takes you through a jump and also a giant slalom run, kind of silly but really good fun. This is a good spot to visit and easy to get to from Oslo. We continued on to Frogneseteren restaurant for a late lunch. It made for a great day excursion.Visited February 2020Written 28 March 2020
- Acritical FNottingham, United Kingdom28 contributionsHead for Heights...So, this is one of the highest points in Oslo. Get the Train (T-Bahn) to Holmenkollen and brace yourself for a long steep walk (about 1.5 miles) to the Skiiing museum. The museum itself was of limited interest to us, we just wanted to go up to the top of the ski jump observation deck. There’s two lifts and then what I can only describe as a “funicular railway” to the top. If you don’t like being buffeted in the wind or if you don’t have a head for heights, you won’t like it! There’s a coffee shop/cafe next to the museum serving lovely hot chocolate and cakes. A wee bit pricey for us Brits, but yummy! Our entrance to the museum/jump was covered with our Oslo Pass (highly recommended).Visited February 2020Travelled with familyWritten 6 March 2020
- 58sparrowAscot, United Kingdom83 contributionsCity break in OsloUnfortunately when we were in Oslo this was closed as the virus was just starting and there was a jump competition. So they stopped all the public from going. However it is over an hour journey by bus but you can catch the bus and go straight there so relatively easy to get to.Visited March 2020Written 15 March 2020

Ski jump is not only a very popular sports but a traditon in Norway. The museum was closed for renovation but whatever we saw, it was breathtaking. The view from top overlooking Oslo was awesome. There was a simulter for people who wanted to get some feeling of ski jump. Also there was a zip line right from top to bottom for adventures people.

Olso Ski Museum is an historic landmark of Norwegian ski tradition. The ski jump is incredible and offers a fantastic view of Oslo and its surroundings. Inside the ski Jump is located the Holmenkollen Ski Museum.

I have watched the ski jump events on television but I’ve never actually seen one. It’s pretty impressive to see what the jump looks like in the steepness. The museum was not open but we enjoyed the view and two of us did the zip line which was fun

A must see venue if you are in or near Oslo. The museum was closed for improvement, but there is a simulater that was good, giving you the skiers eye when doing a ski jump and a slalom skier doing a gold medal run.The ski jump was also open and we went to the top, where the views are incredible and you can look right down the ski jump, and it is truly scary thinking people go down it on skies. There is a zip wire that you can go on from the top of the tower to the bottom,so you can feel and see what the jumpers see and must feel, but they only do this at weekends and flew home on the saturday so couldn't do it!Gutted, looks a fantastic experience.

Be aware that the Ski Museum is closed for the rest of 2023. The viewing platform at the top of the jump tower remains open. We visited both last fall and enjoyed both.

We didn’t enter the museum during our trip as it was closed, there hadn’t been a lot of snow so everything was shut and snow machines were working hard, but we had always seen the Ski Jump from a distance on our previous trips to Oslo so finally made the effort to go and have an up close look. When we return we want to go inside and also up the ski jump to look over Oslo as you can tell the views will be stunning.

Are you interesting in sport, especially skiing and biathlon? Then, this museum is a must for you!
The surrounding of this museum is also very nice and worth to see, especially the areal where biathlon World cup takes a place.

Well worth the trip. Easy to get to using public transport. The views of Oslo alone are worth making this trip but the scale of the ski jump is just incredible. It’s unbelievably steep - even the landing area.

We took the metro from the City Centre to escape the crowds for a few hours. A short walk uphill from the metro stop brought you to the Ski Tower. Unfortunately for us the museum was not open and the cloud cover was low. Nevertheless we still went to the top of the Ski Jump to experience what it would be like from the top as it was included in the Oslo Pass. I'm sure on a clear day the views are stunning. Despite this we still enjoyed our visit and was great to escape the city for a few hours.

I'll be visiting in July, I don't like to ski or any other snow activities, but I'm fine with heights and ziplining, and maybe the museum! How much time should I allow for that?

We did a 1/2 day bus tour toward the end of Spring for which this was part of. They allowed us approx 30mins here which was ample time although we didn’t do the museum we did the simulator. If you’ve never seen a ski jump just do it to realise the angles lengths and enormity of this.... given the time of the season you maybe allowed to go to the very top!!!
I bet you you will ski jumping with a different mindset forever!!!!

take the metro (T-bane) from Oslo Central Station- Westbound Line 1 to Holmenkollen. walk up hill from there.
Or go by a Oslo Sighteeing Bus to see more museums, like the Viking Ships and the Vigeland sculpture Park.
