The day we went to Hunting, the weather was very cloudy. Armand, our guide, stated that, that night would be challenging but we would find the best spot and so we should be hopeful. He was very knowledgeable about both Tromso, the northern lights and the location and gave us very useful information about these subjects throughout the journey. He constantly stopped at various points to examine the sky with his camera and continued until he found the best spot. The situation was not encouraging, we could see that too, but even though we gave up, he never gave up and kept observing constantly. Finally he made a brave decision and decided to go all the way back in the opposite direction. This decision completely changed our fortune. I didn't think we would be able to see the aurora that night until he found a magnificent spot. I still can't believe he could find a spot that remained cloudless for hours on such a cloudy night. At one point he came to the minibus and said the most exiciting sentence of the day. He said "we have northern lights". I guess I wasn't expecting to hear this that night, we were so excited. The lights, which were faint at first, became quite distinct in the following hours. He made this night unforgettable by taking photos of all of us one by one. Then we had an incredible time around the campfire. Our driver Alex was also very helpful that night and made sure we had a good time, we loved him so much. He also took care of us helping us in all aspects. We were a very sweet team. The handmade soup we ate was delicious and hot even after all those hours. Even wearing the clothes at the campsite was professionally recommended and he explained the reason behind this. I understood this better the next night when we went with another company and was sweating in the minibus with thick clothes. We gained a deep knowledge of how aurora lights are formed. The company and guide we went hunting with the next night were so bad that I realized that having a good guide means everything. Thank you to both Armand and Alex for making this night possible and unforgettable. A guide to whom you can surrender with your eyes closed, Armand has made the impossible possible and even now, as I am writing these sentences, I am under the spell of the northern lights dancing above us that night.
