It a lovelu structure from outside but once inside it's quit expensive for what it is... 5euros for that is really desapointing....

The church has an impressive design and stain glass window. Views back to Tromso town are photo worthy. Not much else to say

We timed our day so that we could attend a Midnight Sun concert at 11 pm. We really wanted to hear the organ, but unbeknownst to us, the organ recitals are earlier in the day (around 2 pm I think). We heard a soprano backed...More

The church is very dominating when you are approaching the city. A very simple room without disturbing decorations, white walls and of course the glass mosaic, the "Return of Christ", dominates the interior. But I must confess a daring piece of architecture inspired by Arctic...More

This is a large white structure visible from everywhere that is becoming the landmark of the town. The building itself, a A frame made of several components is quite unremarkable. Inside it is peaceful and has some nice stained glass windows. Their is a good...More

we read so much about this famous cathedral - was for us bit disappointing - even with the marvellous painted glaas windows - there not more than just one topic in sightseeing list

We visited the cathedral right before an organ concert. It is a photogenic church, looks like a glacier

I've been in May (midnight sun) nothing special but simple and tidy inside (NOK50 for ticket). Quick stop to take a picture outside is more than enough, a remarkable check point (landmark) recommended by citizen. Trusted visiting in winter time will be better as everything...More

Amazing architecture, beautiful both from inside and outside. Summer opening hours 09.00 – 19.00 h (Sun 13.00 – 19.00h). Offers free Wi-Fi and toilet. Entry fee is 50NOK, that's about 6USD. You can just go there and relax and watch the amazing stained-glass window or...More

My friend and I visited the Arctic Cathedral for one of their midnight sun concerts. It was a truly beautiful experience, with a live choir, conductor and pianist performing a mixture of Scandinavian and Icelandic pieces of music. Not to be missed of in Tromsø.

We are stopping in Tromso on a Princess cruise. My understanding is the cruise port is not near the city. Is this true? Would it be walkable? Also, do you have to pay to get in the Arctic Cathedral and how near is the cable car, please?

I believe the port for the larger cruise liners is a short distance away, but not far enough to be a problem. I think there is a small fee for The Arctic Cathedral and the Cable car is not that much further on from there... More
Just out of interest does anyone know if there are concerts/ recitals during the daytime at the cathedral? We will be there from 09.00 - 18.00, and it will be a Sunday. In June. Thanks in advance

On Sundays there are three masses per day. Go to the tourist information in the city centre, and they will advise you. The bus boes from centre over the bridge to the Cathedral. Pål

I found this to be an easy walk. It is maybe 30 minutes one way. If its cold be sure to have a scarf and hat. It is pretty windy at the middle of the bridge. As an alternate it is also super easy to catch the bus on each... More
