I was just walking around when I came across this place. Seeing as this was in the middle of October I thought there wouldn't be much about but I was wrong. There was a number of different plants all set in beautiful surroundings.

The garden can be reached through a geological trail which was a great start (from the bus stop by the University). We were amazed how much was in flower and enjoyed a huge variety of plants and the informative information about each section.

We took the taxi from the city center to this wonderful and decent-sized garden. I am guessing it is nicer during spring to midsummer, but even on a partly cloud end-of-summer day it was gorgeous. A map of the garden is posted at multiple locations for easy guidance, and a little playground/obstacle course for children to play in at one... More

Coming from Australia, all our local attractions are the Biggest in the Southern Hemisphere. Equally, everything in Tromso tends to be the most Northerly. I think the Tromso Brewery has a bigger claim to fame but the Gardens are also well worth a leisurely stroll downhill from the University. Everything is well labelled and laid out and they've really packed... More

The most nortern botanical garden. Free and open 24 hours. Located near the university campus. IF entering from the university side then you walk through the woods to reach the garden which is pleasant as a geological history is laid out. The garden produces guides for any particular highlight at the time. In July it was a blue poppy form... More

I have during the summer of 2015 walked many walks through the botanical gardens. They are beautiful, and fascinating, with arctic fauna!

The botanical gardens are approximately 3.5 km from the centre of Tromso. There are regular buses that go to the gardens. Tourist information has maps that show some routes and bus stops. The bus shelters also have route maps and timetables. It is considerably cheaper if you buy your bus ticket from either the tourist information office or one of... More

The unusually warm weather, thanks for Atlantic gulf stream, Tromso is home for the northenmost outdoor botanical garden. Just watch the blossoms in July while there are still snow capped mountains behind. It was highly recommended by someone who grew up in Tromso, and is definitely worth a walk through.

This outdoor botanical garden has entrance near the Northern Lights Planetarium (reached by Bus no. 20) - a Geology Walk explains the rock formations common within the Arctic Circle. It is open 24 hours during summer and admission is free. The site is also accessible via a 40-minute walk from the city center (or Bus no. 34.) The garden is... More
