The Polar Bear Society is located on the coastal steamer pier, together with Hammerfest’s Tourist Information. Join the world famous and exclusive society, and receive the Polar Bear Pin as proof that you visited the World’s Northernmost Town – Hammerfest! Our museum showcases our proud traditions with fishing and hunting in arctic conditions. There is also a gift shop. You can only become a member in the Polar Bear Society when you visit Hammerfest in person. A membership costs NOK 200,00 as a one time fee. The money supports the exhibition and pays the components of the membership: the Polar Bear pin in silver and enamel, a sticker with our logo on, a brochure with our statutes and some information, a diploma with your name on signed by the mayor of Hammerfest, a membership card with your own membership number.

With a free entrance, you can take a closer look on polar bears' lives and fishers from decades ago. The museum wasn't as big as I thought it'd be, but it was still very interesting. There's also a box inside the museum where you can...More

The Polar Bear museum has dioramas of how the Norse lived and their relationship to the North Sea. There are displays that may be disturbing to many such as stuffed animals and actual polar bear skin rugs.

Where else can you join a club that turned down Elvis's membership application because he was too busy eating burgers in Graceland - you can only join in His Hammerfest. Learn about polar bears cc and life in these northern parts,

Hammerfest is a small Norwegian town with limited things to do but if there I highly recommend a stop at the Polor Bear Society. While there enjoy the exhibits and join the society!
