Great little bookstore , don't expect the one in Paris this one is smaller. We loved this little bookshop and chatting with the lady who runs it. Lots to choose from and don't forget to get your purchases stamped.

Little hide-away gem of a bookshop (English) with several rooms filled with books to the ceiling. Wooden shelves and oriental rugs abound. You have to look for what you want, but browsing is part of the fun. Discover all kinds of new titles while you're looking for the one you want (if you really want to, you can ask for... More

I came here specifically expecting a big selection of books but I was a bit surprised with the small space despite a big amount of current and classic titles. You will probably have no problems finding classic titles from all around the world but the selection is not so big when it comes to the current bestsellers which is probably... More

We did have to look specifically for this book shop or else we would have missed it as it's quite hidden, located in Sterngasse near Ruprechtskirche. I was quite looking forward to check out this book shop as I had heard it offers Vienna's best collection of literary and hard-to-find titles in English. The shop looks very pretty and inviting... I have a feeling places like this have a limited life left. Great English word book shop in quieter part of town. Pop in if you can and support book shops to keep open. We are here today thanks to the written word and long may it continue. Easy to find in the Jewish quarter, and check out the little... More

Don't be fooled. This is a small bookstore and smaller than any other Shakespeare in the world. And they are not associated with the famous Shakespeare in PARIS AND the world. ( they even mention that on their website..would that be allowed?) Inside you will find only English books. Small bookstore Out of the way from downtown but only see... More

A fantastic English-language bookstore in a quiet area of the Inner Stadt. It has a great inventory of all genres but I especially like the translation of Vienese/Austrian writers. Very nice and friendly English-speaking staff.

Many titles jumped out at me that I would love to buy! No room in suitcase! It is packed with interesting titles and even have current guidebooks. I think the books are all new (not used.)

The store offers a decent and eclectic collection of modern paperbacks and hardbacks. This isn't a store for antiques, but rather a great place for English speakers to pick up the latest Terry Pratchett novel or an English history of Vienna.

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
