We attended a business function in a very large ballroom with memorable candelabras and gilded decorations. The Rathaus itself is building that deserves a more extensive visit if possible.

When we visited in Sept the activities that take place infront of the Rathaus in Summer had stopped. There were not many people around. But it was worth it waiting for darkness to see all lit up against the dark sky.

Be sure to visit during the day and at night as he Building is lit up at dusk. The best photo is taken from outside the Berg theatre.

It is in a lovely square which houses the city hall. The building was constructed in the late 1800's in neo-gothic style and is one of the more impressive buildings of its style to be seen anywhere in the world.

The building itself is stunning of cause...but if you arrived on Friday and weekends...you will find events at the front.. almost always

before christmas a crowded meeting point for shopping handcraft and trash, hot punsch grog everywhere. location for the famous life ball charity in spring

I've been there at Christmas Market and it was realy nice! The building is beautiful and monumental and the market are huge. Wanna come back soon!

Greetings! The Rathaus has guyided tours on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 1pm. (Except on session days - whatever that might be, prtesumably when the City Council is meeting!) The tours are in German but they provide... More
