I was fortunate to be able to attend a recital here while in Vienna, and it was amazing. It was a small music ensemble, along with ballet dancers and opera singers, such an enjoyable performance, and in a small enough space that everyone could see well. The beautiful building made the experience all the more perfect.

Enjoyed some great music played by fantastic musicians. A wonderful venue for hearing some Mozart and Strauss. The first violinist was the leader of the ensemble, and she was virtuosic in her performance. Have seldom heard such music here in the USA. Some excellent vocal performers as well.

The location of this venue is excellent, showcasing the beautiful baroque architecture from the 1700s. During my trip, I noticed numerous people dressed as Mozart trying to sell tickets to the Wiener Residenzorchester Konzert. While such encounters usually irritate me, these individuals approached us with kindness and no intrusion. Curiosity piqued, we decided to attend the concert.
The performance featured a mix of Mozart, Strauss, and Vivaldi, combining elements of a concert, ballet, and opera, all catered to tourists. The ensemble, consisting of a piano, flute, three violins, a viola, and a contrabass, might not have been a fully-fledged orchestra, but it allowed for more affordable ticket prices compared to traditional opera, concert, or ballet performances in Vienna.
As a first-time experience, I was thoroughly satisfied with the event, especially since the musicians and dancers injected humor into the performance, adding a fun twist to the original context.
However, there were a couple of downsides. The person who sold us the tickets didn't mention any specific dress code and assured us that our casual outfits were perfectly acceptable. While the staff didn't object, we did receive some disapproving looks from other guests. Additionally, the seating consisted of "moveable" chairs rather than proper theater seats, which was a minor inconvenience.
Despite these minor drawbacks, I highly recommend obtaining tickets, visiting the venue (which you can do in just 15 minutes before the start of the concert), and savoring the unique experience!

Excellent music but chairs very uncomfortable. Very wet evening so really crushed getting indoors where concert venue was really overcrowded. All in all a pleasant evening.

A great night of music, dancing and singing.
No photography or videography during the performance - although this was not policed well so we had the front row guests’ phones in our faces for some of the night.
We paid for the VIP seats and would say it was worth it EXCEPT…
Our tickets clearly showed that we had a drink included (which it wasn’t - and it was quite pricey!) as well as a programme (again which wasn’t)
All in all a good experience in a beautiful location - just incorrectly sold!

Attended an evening performance of light music. The ensemble was very good and played popular pieces. Performance lasted one hour with snippets of opera and waltz. The Palais is well decorated with statues and old style staircases. The room itself was big enough with chairs for the performance and is probably used for other events.
Nice evening in Vienna.

Quite central and just a short walk from the rathaus is this palace which was closed due to covid but was built in 1706 to 1710 for hieronymus capece and designed by Erlach and Hildebrant. It is used as a venue for balls and events like concerts is a bit run down and is right on a quite busy street.

A small ensemble of violins, double bass, cello, flute and piano made an incredibly wonderful sound. The played together so well and beautifully - the cellist particularly took our eye as he was obviously so rapt with the music, he was a delight to watch. The lead violinist was excellent and clearly 'knew his stuff'.
The opera, although is not my thing was very good - well performed and very amusing in places. The ballet was lovely and given the cramped conditions was very well done.
The seats weren't too uncomfortable, the loos down stairs were clean, the staff were all very very helpful and we really enjoyed our evening.
My biggest problem was the very large and beautiful staircase up to the room which quite took my breath away (literally) and there were no seats at the top on which to recover.
Apart from that everything was very well organised and, of course, the building itself is beautiful.

Nothing can compare to a Mozart/Strauss concert with the house musicians in a 1706 house that Mozart visited when he was 6 years old...
The history & ambiance adds to the occasion. The musicians & singers “feel” the music.
A must stop for music lovers when in Vienna.

Dear Irene,
We can recommend the
RESTAURANT MARIENHOF, 1080 Wien, Josefstädter Straße 9
which is just round the corner.
Nearest possibility is the restaurant of the "25 Hours Hotel", right across the street:
25hours hotel beim museumsquartier // lerchenfelder straße 1-3 // 1070 wien
There are also some nice places to eat at the "Museumsquartier" nearby (walking distance: approx. 10-15min.)
Have a great time and best wishes in the name of Vienna Residence Orchestra and Palais Auersperg Team!
