Neighbourhood: Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.

The whole concept of a brief history of Vienna is perfectly carried out via 3D and film. The tour lasts approx 50 minutes and worth every penny. The 3D effects are superb with a few extras,I won’t ruin your surprise. Take my word and just book it.

Uninteresting, poor quality, a waste of time. The history of Wien is told in a simplistic yet unclear way, the technology is backwards, and the air inside the rooms stinks. Not educational no matter how young you are.

This is a show that nobody should miss. There are two parts of this show-the Time Travel Vienna and "boat trip with empress Sisi. The use of AI VR goggles makes this experience a unique one.

A really different and immersive experience with a lot of investment gone into the place. The technology is really cool. You only spend 5-10 mins in each experience so it keeps it interesting. You actually learn a lot too.

The VR boat experience in the Sisi add on was the best part for us. Really good VR.

The only thing I would recommend is slightly smaller group sizes. It felt a bit cramped getting into some of the areas.

Overall, a great way to spend an hour or so, especially on a bad weather day.

This was a fun way to zoom through Vienna history. The 5D ride part was just long enough (if you are prone to motion sickness you will want to close your eyes for much of this part), and then you go to an informative and mildly amusing dialog about ruling empires, and experiential portion, VR, and more. Great variety of experience types and information! The kids (12, 9 and 7) loved it! I enjoyed it - nice break from museums while still getting a sense of Vienna over the centuries.

Great expectations, as the Church is magnificent. The musicians were amazing, but they were a couple of issues. First the pews are very uncomfortable, and I really mean that. Second, I expected better acoustics, the music was a little quite and would benefit from some PA system.

It was a fun way to quickly learn the the history of Vienna’s history for both young and older travelers . With it’s “Disney like” ride in the beginning to its walk through history Museum at the end it was worth the money. It was a little difficult for elderly that have trouble with stairs but they did allow person to start the decent down the stairs earlier then the rest of group. The staff was very accommodating with the12 people in our group alone.

We had passes for this place with our Vienna pass and thought it looked fun. (we are adults with no kids-I'm sure older kids might like it) We had the first tour at 10 AM and had a private tour since there wasn't anyone else, with Michael and he is friendly and knowledgeable. We learned so much about Vienna history in a fun, interactive manner. A definite must see!

I rate this “average” but your experience really depends on your agenda in Vienna and AP European History score. If you have less than 24 hours in the city, this crash course in Viennese history may be both entertaining and enlightening at the same time. But anyone who has marvelled at the must-see museums and palaces won't find it much more than a brief summary of the facts and figures you already know. To test whether you should check out this time machine, answer these questions.

- Who is Maria Theresia? (You have heard a lot about this Hapsburg monarch at Schönbrunn Palace, haven’t you?)
- Who composes the Blue Danube? (Isn’t this waltz played on Austrian Airlines even before you land in Wien?)
- What is so significant about Sarajevo? (Don’t you remember that blood-stained uniform of Archduke Franz Ferdinand displayed at Heeresgeschichtliches Museum?)
- Is Adolf Hitler a good public speaker? (Time Travel shows a one-minute clip of him but you have seen a whole exhibition of this controversial topic at one of the world’s most beautiful libraries, Prunksaal, right?)

Apparently, if you can write a paragraph on each of these subjects, you will be bored. I ain't saying you should avoid Time Travel. But what I like to emphasise again and again is if you plan to spend a few days in Vienna, you should schedule your visit at the very beginning of your trip before there’s too much in your head already.

Upon reading this, some kids will say, “hey, it’s called edutainment, stupid.” But to be honest, (apart from the ferocious mice) it isn’t very fun either. After the 5D film ends abruptly in the middle of the Turkish siege (leaving kids crying for more), you will pass through room after room listening to conversations of a few leading characters of Austrian history (their names already mentioned above). Plus the finale on a horse-drawn carriage is super kitschy. I have total respect for its amazing staff, many of them university students who are truly passionate about their city. But Time Travel is just not up to my great expectations.

To use a Thai proverb, what it does is attempting to catch two fish (entertainment and education) with each hand but for grown-ups it delivers neither. I think the management is facing a dilemma: should this be a theatre with some facts thrown in for good measure or an information session with some sound and visual effects? If it’s the former, why not extending the 5D action cinema part? If it’s the latter, why not adding some gimmicks? But I guess it may not be a good business, at least difficult to justify the steep price tag: €22 including audio guide.
