Kunsthalle Wien is Vienna’s exhibition space for international contemporary art and discourse. At its two venues at Museumsquartier and Karlsplatz, contemporary art is not only shown, but also presented in its specific contexts.Thematic group exhibitions, solo exhibitions by international artists, retrospectives by well-known representatives of contemporary art as well as exhibitions by emerging artists add an outstanding profile to Kunsthalle Wien that highlights its relation with both the international and the local art scene. With its broad program Kunsthalle Wien emphasizes that the subjects taken up by contemporary art are manifold. The combination of artistic practice and its theoretical reflection are therefore most important for its many exhibition activities. The intense debate on important questions of our time is also reflected in an extensive program of events such as talks and discussions.

We visited this museum on the first Sunday in August and were told we could pay what we feel. We paid 0 and definitely got our money's worth. It was terrible. In fact we thought they should have paid us for wasting our time in...More

It's hard to evolve what I think of this museum, because there are varying exhibits. In any case, it is very small; And surrounded by a cool bar, with lots of nice cocktails and young people in July 2017. The museum looks modern, is very...More

This museum of contemporary and modern art will not appeal to all tastes but if you are looking for expressions of creativity, imagination, fantasy and multiple genres, give it a visit. The exhibitions are time dependent so it is important to check the website and...More

Museum within MuseumQuartier exhibiting a series of changing contemporary art. There’s a pond outside the museum that’s great to hang out and enjoy the energy. There’s even art installations that is made to sit and hang out. Pretty cool.

I know it will depend on what sort of art you like but going to see the current exhibition - Big Objects Not Always Silent was a total waste of money. The exhibition was just in one large exhibition type hall with not a lot...More

The Automation poster around town got our interested, so we visited the Kunsthalle. The Automation is the only exhibit in this museum. It is a modern exhibit and it would be fair to say, it was a real stretch to suggest this exhibit or museum...More

It is very difficult to evaluate a venue where there is only temporary exhibitions. This was my second visit to the Kunsthalle and it was very good. They had a free exhibition about political populism. Some of the exhibits were mesmerizing, in particular the blue...More

The modern art museum is housed in the old Royal Stables. No worries, they've shoveled out all the old horse poo and put down some lovely flooring. Ha! The building is not much to look at from the outside, but the installations inside are fantastic....More

Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries,
arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde
shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with
cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make
for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and
art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at
Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a
perfect hangout on a warm summer evening.
