An excellent way to spend a Sunday morning in Vienna. The Burgkapelle is the home of the Choir and their core mission is to sing at Sunday mass. This they do as wonderfully as possible with a Haydn mass as the back drop. There was...More

We enjoyed being able to attend church on a Sunday though not being able to understand much. It was a well-coordinated service with beautiful voices in attendance. Vienna Boys alumni were the ushers. The choir boys were the younger ones of the choir, backed up...More

As others have said, this is not a concert but a religious service, where the Boys' Choir participates. I decided at the last minute to go, and opted for free standing room tickets. I got there at eight and was the fourth person in line....More

The chapel is very interesting. It's a rather narrow church approximately 3 to 4 storeys high. The chapel is located in a small square just after the tunnel "In der Burg" (where the Sissi museum is located) as you walk south from Michaelerplatz on the...More

We got the better tickets but think anywhere in the place would be good. The service was a typical Catholic service but spoken in Germany. The music was especially uplifting and if you are not religious you will not appreciate it.

Not very good for the average non-Catholic. You're just pre-paying and getting a reservation for a mass with a bit of singing at the top/bottom of the program. Plus it's in a different language - which will be boring to kids/some adults. I also mistakenly...More

You do not have to be Catholic to appreciate this. The setting is amazing. The sound overwhelming. Yes, it is a Catholic mass but there are no expectations that you participate. However, if you are Catholic it is very moving to a part of this...More

We attended the Nelson-Messe by Joseph Hayden at the Hofburgkapelle (Vienna Hofburg Palace Chapel) in June 2016. As commented by other reviewers this is a Mass foremost and not a concert. In fact unless you watch a television you will not even see the orchestra...More

We're visiting Vienna this October and very much want to hear the Vienna Boys Choir. We'd also though we'd see them perform .. but .. am unclear whether that is the case. So, please clarify, for me (1) differences between the various venues where they perform, (2) do we "see" them perform more at a particular venue, and (3) recommended seating to try to get, on line, for these places. thanks so much.

We were at Sunday morning sung Mass in June. We got tickets from tourist information the day before and were a level up, with the choir above is again. The best chance to see them is when they come onto the altar after... More
