    The Most Colourful Social Housing
We’d never heard of Hundertwasser before coming to Vienna and were stunned by this quirky building, especially as it started out as social housing. The people who live here now must get fed up of visitors milling about. We avoided the tat shop opposite. Set us up nicely for a visit to the nearby Kunst Haus.

    very colourful
This magical, very eye-catching place is located on the corner of Kegelgasse and Löwengasse. This residential complex takes its name from Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Hunderwasserhaus can only be visited from the outside, but opposite this building is a shopping complex called Hundertwasser Village - there you can already enter, buy numerous souvenirs, and above all feast your eyes on beautiful paintings and other things.

    Abstract Design
Cool little spot & something different to see after viewing all the great historic parts of Vienna. Nice little indoor bar/cafe & shopping district right across from this. There are residents who live there, so you won't want to try and enter the actual building, but the best view is over the outside anyway.

    A Must See
The pictures of this building are better than the actual site but it is impressive nevertheless. There are many souvenir shops and cafes at the foot of the building that feed off its popularity. A must see in Vienna. Easy to find.

off the beaten trail but worth the journey
It is off the beaten track but worth the effort. We, like many other looked at the property from across the street and marvelled at its quirkiness. I love how the property embraces nature and has trees that almost seem to be within the structure of the building. It make a refreshing change from the other more traditional buildings Vienna is famous for.

    Hundertwasser's house is not like people's... 😁😁😁
Complete freedom of creativity, which this strange architect took advantage of. He managed to create a unique project that most citizens and tourists liked. Hundertwasser's house hides a very rich inner world behind its remarkable and bright exterior. At first glance, it may seem that the house was created specifically in an outrageous style to attract travelers. However, the reality was a little different. The architect put a lot of hidden meanings into his project, which influenced the appearance of the building.

    Hundertwasser house
The building has a "hilly" number of storeys. In the house, Hundertwasser embodied his ideals of art and beauty, such as the use of a whole palette of colors, the absence of straight lines, a lot of greenery and versatility. The motley facade is complemented by windows of different sizes and shapes, mosaics and ornaments made of colored glazed tiles. Not everyone likes it, because in Vienna everything is luxurious and modern architecture sometimes looks twofold. But personally, I love this place, every time we come here, we are happy to take a walk along the street.

Very interesting architecture. Have never seen anything like this before. A little out of the way from touristy things but glad we stopped here. If you only have 1 day in Vienna, there are other attractions that are worth seeing more.

I mean it is a colored apartment and reminds you a bit casa batllo in Spain but that’s it. There is a small passage where you can encounter with a lot of souvenir options plus a small bar.

We were extremely delighted to have seen this unique apartment complex like no other. We used Tram Line 1 and stopped at “Hetzgasse” to begin our journey. You can also take the “Hop-on-hop off bus” or even metro U1 or U4 stopping at Schwedenplatz station. The activity is actually free and we loved every minute of it.

The concept was developed by an artist named Friedensreich Hunderrwasser. Aiding the artist was architect Josef Krawina who is named as co-founder of this exceptional architecture. The project started in 1983 and was completed in 1985. There are over 50 non-conforming—mosaic type of apartments which are off-limits. People actually live in this 7 storied building.

The 250 trees in and around the complex make for an unusual sight. The artiest wanted to “prevent something ugly from going up it its place.”

There is a small people street with a few interesting shops and a café. We saw a number of art students hard at work drawing. The ambiance of the area is heart-warming and definitely unique and well worth a visit in busy Vienna. This adventure put a smile on my wife’s face.

It's quite a unique building, it feels a bit like Barcelona there in the area. There is a small terrace restaurant/cafe.

the museum with authentic Hundertwasser art is fabulous. It reminds me of an Austrian Gaudi. It is worth a trip inside with your Vienna Pass to the museum
