Neo gothic church
Feb 2021 • Couples
One of the most beautiful churchs in vienna, it is partly under contruction and due to covid was not open when we were there. However still great to see. It was built in 1879 but the idea came in 1859 after the attempted assassination of the emperor and campaign to create a church to thank god for saving his life. Located on the ring road, made out of white sandstone similar as the stephansdom and has been quite damaged in WWII. It ha a typical form of a gothic cathedral. A nice park is around it.

... architectural creation
Feb 2020
The Votiv church of Vienna, a very impressive architectural creation from the mid 1800 standing today on the Ring Strasse - close/near/in the Rooseveltplatz.
It is a Catholic church with beautiful decorations on the exterior walls - built in Neo-Gothic style - and for those of you who are interested in architecture for sure it is going to be extremely interesting.
Inside details are equally interesting - the altars and decorations are again impressive.
It is an interesting aspect that from time to time this mistaken for the Stephansdom (by tourists of course). Still the 2 churches are built in different centuries and the Stephansdom is several hundred years older.
Visiting was free of charge - but as always donations are welcome. But if you want to visit nowadays pay attention to the C-19 situation.
When you go visiting be careful to dress appropriately.
Very interesting that's for sure - when you are in Vienna and you have the time make sure you include this place on the list of the places you want to visit.

Beautiful and Haunting
Oct 2019
This church although austere for it's period has a lot going for it. The stained glass windows are wonderful and have both triumphant and sad scenes. It is hard not to be affected by the sadness of it especially with the events of the First and Second World Wars and Austria's conflicted part in the Second.

A beautiful church with a very calming atmosphere, although it was colder inside the church than outside.

We visited this church in the early morning and it is stunning. it's gothic architecture is mesmerising and so beautiful. the church is free to go into and photography is not allowed. Very beautiful

Great place to visit and worship our Lord. Architecture is breathtaking and love the stain glass. So much to see here and spent about an hour and half there but that includes time for a prayer. A must visit. Not busy on a Tuesday. Free to visit but so worth a donation.

Wonderful neo-gothic Church
Dec 2019 • Couples
We attended Sunday mass and it was a wonderful experience as it was conducted in 6 languages. The 2 towers are prominent features of this church. To inside is gothic with beautiful carvings and there was an ancient piano that still plays.
