There is a little something for everyone in this area, even if you take a seat outside and watch the world go by you will not be bored. It seems like this is where everyone heads to, so whether it's shopping, eating, meeting friends or just soaking up he views or the incredible buildings, this is the place to go.

When in Vienna you should go and explore Stephanplatz! Oh, and also try the horse carriage ride which starts... More

Stephansplatz is the center of the action in old town Vienna. Very lively area with a lot of shops, cafes, restaurants all around. Blend of old and modern.

There are a selection of shops from the usual ones plus independednts selling tea products, cheese, chocolates etc. several touristy soveinger shops plus the St Stephens Cathedral in the middle. Close to the Museum quarter and the Imperial Riding School plus a short walk to the Central Cafe for coffee and cake. There are several other coffee shops and bars... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
