They currently have a fantastic temporary ice rink. Not just a big square but long runs through the park. Lots of stalls selling hot food and drinks.p

The place is so pretty and worth going for a visit. Was there in December so it was cold and the gardens a tad barren but perhaps spring may be a better time to visit.

The city does a nice job of creating a good environment for people to enjoy skating. ( even a privates learners rink) Trails through the trees and a large open ice space in front of city hall. Beautiful at night and during the day. Lots...More

Probably the best Christmas Market in Vienna. A full range of stalls in an excellent location. Stalls selling Gluhwein or hot fruit drinks are worth a visit. You can buy the mug as well as a souvenir.

This is a great place to pass the time of day with street food and hot chocolate or a warm punch. In winter the Ice skating winds through the place and is a must.

With incredible buildings blocking the view in all directions, the square is now mostly occupied by a winding path of ice filled with frolicking skaters. We got to see a Zamboni riding the paths, smoothing out the ice -- an unusual site indeed.

The Rathaus is impressive - both during the day and at night. In December, the square is home to the largest Christmas market in Vienna. Colourful stalls, rides, skating and gluhwein. Not to be missed.

Currently with a skating rink and used for Christmas markets, an interesting square to wander. Overlooked by the impressive Town Hall.
