As an American this museum was very interesting to see another countries military museum. This was a really good reminder that there were other aspects to WWII that aren't necessarily pointed out in American schools. When we went it seemed as though this museum was a bit forgotten as it is not super easy to get to and we were... More

It's really hard to believe that so much priceless historical treasures are collected in one place. Keep in mind that during the winter the tank garden is closed!

If you are amateur or professional historian you'll be satisfied with this journey .., It is one of the best museums I ever visited. Centerpiece: the car of the arhiduke Frantz Josef and the Gavrilo's Princip Browning.

Fantastic place great exhibits and so much to see. Need around 2 to 3 hours to do it justice, but worth every second. I am not normally a fan of audio guides but there is not a lot of translation available outside of the modern exhibits which are fine. There are printed sheets at the entrance to each area and... A compact museum. Lots of exhibits in each of the main rooms. Exhibit notices in German and English. Free hand outs in many languages (inc English) for each section of the museum. Highlight is the uniform and car of the assassinated Franz Ferdinand who's death lead to WW 1. Easy to get to by public transport

Both WW I & WW II were well covered. Also the naval exhibition was good. Some rare items, like 380mm cannon.

I had no idea about this place until a map of interesting things to see from the hotel told me about it. The museum itself is in a beautiful and beautifully restored imperial armory. Many of the exhibits were only in German, until you got to the World War I exhibit. The armory/museum is nicely located on the grounds of... More

The building itself and the scope of the exhibits are really some of the finest I have seen anywhere. I was most impressed with the WWI exhibit. It begins with the actual car that the Archduke was assassinated in at Sarajevo and then gives a year by year exhibit and recounting of the war. It is unlike any WWI exhibit... More

We came here in preference to the Schonbrunn and had a lovely time. There was a problem with our Vienna Pass ticket with which they were very helpful. We visited as my husband is very interested in WW1 but there was a lot there going from at least 16th century onwards. There are a huge number of uniforms, which seem... More

A superb collection of Austrian military history artefacts, uniforms, paintings, weaponry and much, much more housed inside a wonderfully palatial building. I enjoyed both the 19th century and WW1 galleries in particular, which offered seemingly endless Austrian insights into the conduct of wars on multiple fronts throughout this era Not to be missed..? The car in which Archduke Franz Ferdinand... More
