Address
Neighbourhood: Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city centre and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theatres, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.

    Expensive, but great amusent park
The park was really great, especially in the evening it was very aesthetically pleasing and there was lots to do. Most big thrill rides cost around €5 so it was quite a pricey trip as we wanted to do several rides. The rides were mainly exceptional quality- I would definitely recommend the Prater Turm and the Hotel Psycho ghost train. Be aware that some of the rides may be closed when you go, there were a few rollercoasters that we were looking forward to however they weren’t open. The gift shops were also big tourist scams and had no park-related merchandise. Besides that, it was a good park and a great atmosphere.

    Day trip with young toddlers
We visited the park on a weekday mid- morning with young children. This seemed the best choice as the park was not in full swing, so less noisy and not crowded. It really didn’t matter to the children that many rides were not running, as just the sight of the rides was amazing to them. The park is really massive with a few playgrounds near the edge of it. The highlight was the 30 minute train ride (miniature train), which goes to most areas of the park. (Worth it) The only negatives; - The train expels quite a bit of diesel smoke, which I could even smell wandering around later in the park - weekday mornings, the restaurant options are limited for lunch

    Easy to reach via U-Bahn!
A bit janky but full of charm and free to wander about! There is endless fun to be had looking at all of the weird statues and playing the funfair games. You have to pay for the rides, and they can be pricey but really fun. At least visit the Riesenrad a Vienna classic!

    Thrill Seekers Paradise
Although the weather was not the greatest fun was had by all. Great choice of rides to choose from the tame to the thrill seeker, no queues at all. Some nice hut to get some snack and mulled wine to warm you up as you go from ride to ride. A little bit pricey but do not have to spend can just go an soak up the Christmas spirit.

    The Vienna Amusement Park
We visited on January 1st. The weather was nice and almost all attractions were open in the afternoon. There are plenty of interesting things for both young and older children and adults. Each attraction is paid separately at 4 or 5 euros per person.

Fun place, free entrance, pretty old style rides.
Lovely place with fun rides and restaurants. Easily accessible by tube or tram. Free entry, just pay for the rides. So recomendable the ferris wheel, not only for the view, especially at night but the wheel itself is gorgeous.

When in Vienna the Riesenrad is a must do - especially for those of us who remember the 'Third Man' film :-)
Ok, so the park is rather dated but I all I wanted to do was go on the Wheel [Riesenrad] for my birthday - and on the wheel I went! We were also allowed to have a car on our own which just so happened to be the same date as my birthday - 14! We then went to Madame Tussauds where one of my friends mentioned it was my birthday, whereupon I was given free entry which was a very nice surprise. The waxworks themselves range from very good to not so good, but it was still fun.

Super fun and has a lot of things to do even if its expensive
ALWAYS Have fun. Though it is expensive if you want to ride a lot of things. One ride is USUALLY around 5€. I’ve been on every single ride so far and love it every time. Fun with family, friends, alone,…met a lot of friends there too. Fun!!!

    Old School Theme Park
So much fun 😆 proper old school. The rides are actually terrifying. Make sure you bring cash because card payments might not be accepted at some rides. You have to pay for every ride you want to go on.

    Couples visit
Spent a pleasant morning/early afternoon wandering around Prater. No entrance fee, pay and ride. If you like fast, upside down rides this is for you. I enjoyed a ride on the giant ferris wheel- Weiner Riesenrad, a little expensive but a once in a lifetime activity. It was a clear day and the views were great.

We made our way here on a January evening during our stay in Vienna, I had read that the park mostly closes down but some rides still stay open. The only way I can describe it is like an abandoned Disney Land.

The only ride that was open was the Riesenrad which I had saw was about €6 or so to get in. At the cash desk the lady informed me it was actually €12 each which is quite a lot for what it is. In the end we decided that the Ferris wheel wasn’t worth €24 and headed back to the city.

Wouldn’t bother visiting until it opens again

The park is great fun - and free to enter - and would always recommend it on a trip to Vienna as have been several times. Latest visit marred by grumpy unhelpful man in big wheel kiosk who stood chatting idly to colleague while I was waiting to buy tickets and when I asked approximately what time other attractions would open snapped that he wasn't an information service! But without knowing that information you can't decide whether to buy rise packages advertised at the wheel. The photographers on the entry to the wheel were, in contrast to this man who should not be in a customer facing role, smiling and very helpful.

I visited early Saturday evening, just as it was getting dark, and although it was busy, it wasn't too busy. Free to enter you only pay for the rides you want to go on. There is the world's oldest Ferris wheel there. Also a few places to have a coffee or something to eat. Right opposite the underground.

This is a huge amusement park in Vienna and is free to enter. There are restaurants, cafes and of course rides that cost between €3.50 and €5 per person. We visited between Christmas and New year and there were still all of the Christmas Market food stalls at the entrance. We also went on the ferris wheel which gave us great views of the park and Vienna. Tip: buy your tickets online to fast track the queues as it is a really popular ride.

Prater it was a dream for me. Jist like Disney Land.
We arrived at Prater at 6 pm and we had the unpleasant surprise to observe the fact that most of the attractions was closed. Maybe because is not vacation season. I dont know. The big wheel was open and it cost 12 euro/ person, also the hammer for 5 euro, and also the chains that raise you up in the air at 100 m also for 5 euro. Was open also some toys for small childrens.
This in terms of toys and adrenaline.
The museums was open.
Most of the places where you can buy something to eat was also closed.
It is a beautiful park, but, we had badluck.

I recommend to go when is not so cold outside. When you will get the most of it.
We payd cash but you can also pay by card.

If you get Vienna pass because they say you skip the line is not true. For the giant wheel there is first a line outside, then another line in the circle labirinth called "museum", then another line next to the wheel. If there are cabins where people have dinner you can easy take 2 hours to get inside. The view was awesome but the time to get in not.

We wanted to to take a trip on the Reisenrad ferris wheel featured in the film The Third Man, so made our way to Prater Park. The ride itself is great and we enjoyed the exhibition about its history, which makes use of some of the old cabins removed from the wheel. If you have a Vienna Pass card, you can ride the wheel for free, but the man on the ticket desk was extremely grumpy and shouted aggressively at some other visitors who were confused by the ticket barrier (it's not immediately obvious where you access the ride). Thrill seekers will enjoy the roller-coasters and other rides too, but we're too old for those now, so took a ride on the train around the park instead (also free with the Vienna Pass). We would have liked to visit the Prater Park Museum, but it only opens at weekends, so we missed out on that.

Very good amusement park and nice that you don’t have to pay to enter. Went on the giant Ferris wheel which was good very good views over Vienna. 12 euros each and we had a photo taken aswell which was around 10 euros. You pay for each attraction individually most were around 5 euros. Weather was quite warm for February and we sat in a nice pub and had a beer would be great in the hotter months to wander round & have a few drinks & food.

If you have family trip to Vienna, it’s highly recommended to visit Prater.
It is not only its famous giant swing - one of the signs of Vienna but also other amused equipments from small children to teenagers to enjoy themselves.
Furthermore there are also wax museum : Madame Tussaud’s Vienna as well as a famous Austrian restaurant named Schweizer Haus with its famous leg pork grilled too. You can spend the whole day there when the weather is nice!
