We had booked online for this concert (two of Beethoven's symphonies, the third and the fourth). The booking process was smooth and trouble-free. Getting to the place was easy, it is within walking distance of the museum uarter and also close to the subway. The music room is large than I had expected from viewing the New Year's concerts on... It’s hard to say expectations aren’t high in a city that great masters like Strauss, Mozart and Beethoven call home. The city practically is the center of classical music with the sheer amount of composers who were based here. The Silicon Valley of music if you will. So when a promoter dressed as Mozart encourage me to go to one... More

An evening in the Musiekverein! Great acoustics great performance of the sympfoniker with Beethovens 4th and 5th. People really go out, so typically tourists wear no tie and suit. Be prepared. See and be seen! Strong traditions and beautiful athmosphere. Go there!

Went to watch the Moscow tchaikovsky philharmonic orchestra playing at Musikverein. The music rendition was superb it is indeed rare to watch an orchestra so enjoy a performance so much so that one got carried away with it all. Performance as expected top notch but the venue really takes ones breath away. This is my second visit to this venue... More

On our recent visit to Vienna, we wanted to go to a concert in one of the historic buildings or concert halls. Reading some of the reviews on TripAdvisor left us sceptical as many warn against audiences with noisy tourists who talk and take pictures during the concert. Many also wisely warn against concert tickets sold on the street by... More

I have heard 17 concerts in the Musikverein in the past 6 years. I have heard the Wiener Philharmoniker, the Wiener Symphoniker, the Tonkünstler-Orchester des Niederösterreich, Bruckner Orchestra of Linz; as well as our own Cleveland Orchestra and Philadelphia Orchestra. The acoustics of the Musikverein are a marvel to hear: flawless top-to-bottom balance, flawless front-to-back balance, great dynamic range, wonderful... More

We had pre-booked this in the UK. We had arrived from Budapest where we had seen a ballet in the State Opera a few days, so we a little spoilt and were expecting good things. It did not disappoint the building inside and out was magnificent. We collected our tickets without any issues. We had booked a performance in Brahms... More

Truly a must for anybody with any interest in classical music. The concert and the acoustics were great, and the grand interior of the hall spectacular.

We took this tour yesterday and it was fascinating. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We were lucky to have a small group. About 15 of us. She said sometimes there's 45 people! We saw three rooms including the famous golden hall. The building was being made ready for a dance festival with lots of construction going on... More

Booked in advance. Beethoven piano #2 and Mahler symphony #5. Great to be in this "New Year's Concert" building. The acoustique was amazing.

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
