One of the biggest shopping streets in Europe full of shops! Especially on Saturdays the street is very busy but not in a bad way. Make sure you visit the shops some other day than on Sunday because all the shops are closed then.

Most of the tourists go to Kärntner Strasse but not to Mariahilferstrasse. If you want to get better price, you should visit Mariahilferstrasse where you can find almost the same products like at the Kärntner Strasse.

Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries,
arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde
shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with
cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make
for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and
art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at
Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a
perfect hangout on a warm summer evening.

When you are already near the opera and you want to walk around the city, I would not advice to go by metro (you will not see anything of the city). It would be much better you walk the short way along the Ring to... More
