In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.

The Stadtpark in Vienna is a large municipal park which covers an area of some 65,000 square metres. Statues of famous Viennese artists, writers and composers enhance the pathways and gardens within the park. The so-called 'Kursalon' is the venue of popular waltz concerts. The gilded bronze monument of Johann Strauss II was unveiled on the 26th June 1921. The large park in the centre of Vienna offers a variety of monuments to historic Austrian composers, artists and writers such as Franz Lehár, Hans Makart, Robert Stolz, Franz Schubert and many more. Free entrance. Located in Stadtpark, Vienna.

    Beautiful
It is worth a visit, it is a remarkable statue and a beautiful piece of art. You can enjoy the beautiful Stadtpark, get some rest there and thinking about the great composers. It is not very crowded and it is very easy to take time to admire the monument and have a beautiful photo in the light of the sunset.

Charming monument to Strauss at Stadtpark
This is easily the most famous monument in Stadtpark. What you see is a gilded statue of 19th-century Austrian composer Johan Strauss (1825-99) also known as the 'Waltz King'. What you see is Strauss, gleefully playing violin in front of an arched structure embedded with angelic figures, trancing around while listening to his play. It is always fun passing by this monument, which similar to the Mozart Monument at Burggarten, has a constant stream of tourists lining up to have their picture taken. Have patience, you can sneak in a unobscured photo in between tourists coming and going up to the Strauss Monument.

Don’t get carried away, or go way out of your way, but if passing, worth a stop.
It’s a statue but the gold is shiny, shiny, shiny, so impressive

An imposing statue of the composer who most people assocuiate with Vienna despite fierce competition.Would it be irreligious to suggest that the current orchestra leader Rieu models himself on this pose? Just asking.

One of the more extravagant statues in Vienna, the monument is located in the Stadtpark. Some thought has been put into the placement of the statue as the background works well for photos.
