EXPERIENCE HUNDERTWASSER UP CLOSE: Art - Achitecture - Nature - Vision Two intriguing museums experiences await the visitors at the KUNST HAUS WIEN. The Museum Hundertwasser presents the world's biggest collection of Austrian exceptional artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser (1928 -2000): his world famous paintings, fine art prints, tapestries and architectural designs. Here you can immerse yourself in his imaginative world of art inside and out - colorful walls and uneven floors in the interior, the artistic façade with tiles and color fields on the outside. "Tree tenants" grow from the windows, plants and flowers inhabit the rooftop and inner courtyard. In Vienna's first "green museum" one can sense Hundertwasser's visionary mind and experience his ecological engagement on site. Beyond that the KUNST HAUS WIEN is Vienna's premier house for photography exhibitions: changing exhibitions introduce the biggest names of photography to a wide audience.

Here's a unique place for a 2 hour side trip from the centre of town. Museum Hundertwasser was the brainchild of the artist by the same name, his creative motto was to avoid conformity. The first couple of floors house a collection of his highly creative painting, sculpture and architectural model works. upper floors program contemporary photography exhibitions. I can... More

Dear Elaine, thank your visit, we hope you liked the KUNST HAUS WIEN. Museum Hundertwasser. If you should return to Vienna, I can recommend some points of interests in the area around the museum: RADETZKYPLATZ with small cafes and retaurants (Gasthaus Wild, Café Menta...). KOLONITZPLATZ (neugotic church "Pfarrkirche St. Othmar unter den Weißgerbern" - fifth highest churchtower in Vienna). SÜNNHOF... More

I always love visiting this gallery, particularly as it is usually quiet and away from busy tourist areas. A hidden gem!

Everyone should see this work - it is astonishing - if you like architecture, beauty, colour, design then this will amaze. If you are on a budget most of the good stuff can be seen for free. Its amazing - he was a genius.

I knew almost nothing about the artist Hundertwasser before visiting Vienna. Ok the buildings are quirky. So visually it is different. Take the time to read and understand the artist. He was ahead of his time - the environment and sustainability. One quote "If we do not honour our past. If we destroy our roots. How can we grow ".... More

This was one of the highlights of our visit to this beautiful city. While on the flight we saw an ad on the flight magazine about a photography exhibition which will go on till August 2017. We got attracted to one of the photos and decided to visit it. It was an amazing discovery. The design of the museum itself... More

We have been to this type of show in other countries that were much more informative. The film show was a bit tacky

Vienna until it's early 90's was quite heavilly determined by its geopolitical exposure. The "Hundertwasser" projects seem today to me more a vienna city governor concept to get out of the greyish but nevertheless quite real look and feel of the post-war and cold War city. Whatever these Hundertwasser things are, they tell us about how Vienna lives with the... More
