We visited while the had the World Press exhibit. It was moving. Given the extensive collection & display of cameras and related items, my guess, they only show amazing & worthwhile photography.

Enjoyable time at WestLicht, but not what I was expecting. When reading blogs on the Internet, I expected it to be full of cameras and KGB spy equipment. Whilst there were a few examples of these, it was more of a photo gallery and a big advert for Leica. It was €14 for both my wife and myself to enter,... More

We regularly visit the gallery for their photo exhibitions, this place is a must for all photography addicts passing by Vienna. There is a small museum with curiosities from the near and vintage photo history, particularly the collection of spy cameras is impressive. Staff is very pleasant and forthcoming as well as available for a chat as they collect your... More

I was totally surprised today when I accidentally ran into this facility today. At the street front is a Leica store and through the passage (you pass through one of the famous old inner courtyards of Vienna). I know VIenna pretty well, but I've never been here before. This it what Westlicht says of itself "The first large photo and... More

Staying in Neubau

Neighbourhood Profile
Neubau
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
