A new way to climb a mountain: not far from Innsbruck’s famed “Goldenes Dachl”, an amorphous ice formation glitters in the sun. Upon closer inspection, however, it reveals itself as the lower terminus of the Hungerburgbahn hybrid funicular railway, whose striking appearance sprung from the imagination of star architect Zaha Hadid.

A must, lovely view, great occasion for enjoying the alps. We did all the way up to the top, and making a unique ticket it was quite a good price.

Very interesting mode of transport up the mountain. The funicular offers great views across Innsbruck on the way up the mountain. In December a small Christmas market greets you at the top of the Funicular where you can enjoy a Gluhwein with a great view....More

Riding the funicular takes you to the top of the hill with such an amazing view of Innsbruck, Austria. You can also see the ski jump from the Innsbruck Olympics. Relax and enjoy the fresh air.

Just a very nice trip up a mountain! Always impressive, this funicular, whether going just to the Zoo stop, the top station or on with the cable car to the VERY top (Hafelekar).

This is a really fun ride to take and it has three convenient stations. Be sure to sit in a location with a nice view (usually the last car)

We went quite early in the morning, about 8:30 which worked well for us as we prefer quiet, calm tours. By the time we went right to the top and then stopped off at each place on the return, we'd spent half a day. This... More

Hi I would be surprised if it wasn't open as it is the main transport links to the ski resort cable . Maybe email them to ask? The beauty of Innsbruck is best found by walking...there are still a lot of things open.
