An absolutely beautiful place! The surrounding mountains, road next to the lake and emerald colored water make this a must stop! There are many places along the road to pull over and enjoy the views. We will definitely be back!

On our way to Linderhof from Austria we drove along the beautiful lake of Plansee. The bad surprise was just after when suddenly the road was blocked. It took us more than 1h30 min to reach Linderhof through another road ... what is really disappointing...More

Amazing views, wonderful landscapes, a place for picnic. It’s worth to prepare a lunch and brig it with you there. Everything tastes better on the blanket on lakesides

Took a drive up to the Plansee after walking around Oberammergau. It was some of the most beautiful scenery...snow-capped mountains, a large lake the color of emeralds...it was stunning. I am so glad we went — it was a highlight of our trip.

What a nice drive along the lake with views that won't quit! Water is so clean it looks green against the bottom of the lake. Reminds me of Florida's emerald waters:-)

Walk anti clockwise and you will get the good views of the zugspitz in the first half of the walk. Pram friendly, gravel path so a bit rough at times but manageable. Parking was about €4. In the trees, so shaded most of they way...More

Stopped to view on return from Linderhof. Spectacular, large lake against backdrop of high mountains. Rugged yet tranquil scene. Weather rainy, so colours muted. Didn't stay for very long. Would return.

It's really hard to find words to adequately capture this place. Mountain lake, that color of blue green you find only in the mountains (and oddly enough the lagoon at California Adventure in Anaheim), surrounded by mountains of awesome rugged-i-tude. Rocks, vertical faves, vistas that...More
