About
Installation of the DomQuartier in 2014 restored the original architectural unity of the Cathedral and Residenz precinct, also including the Benedictine monastery of St Peter’s and thus creating an internationally unique museum project. Over 400 year ago, the Salzburg prince-archbishops began to transform the town into an Italian-style Baroque gem. They created a masterpiece of urban design, which is today a UNESCO World Heritage site.

    Interesting tour
Used our Salzburg card to access the museum. It has a lot of history and the audio device is helpful to explain everything . The tour takes about 2 hours, as there is a great deal to see. There are not many places to sit a rest, so be aware that you need time. They have many interesting areas, both historic and religious.

    Must visit while in Salzburg
This was a place my husband and I along with friends, wanted to see while in Salzburg. We were given an audio guide in several languages and everything was easy to find. This is a great help for people with hearing problems. It was ideal that we could do this tour at our own pace. We would recommend a visit here. Just a little tip - if you buy the Salzburg Card you can visit most sites for free.

    Really stunning
We stumbled on this as we had bought a Salzburg card. Fantastic, we loved the Rundgang around the state rooms, through the galleries and past the artefacts and the cathedral organ. It was so quiet, at times we felt we had the place to ourselves. Really helpful and friendly staff too. Would really recommend. The prices for normal entry are really good value too, much better than the UK.

Taking this tour was an absolutely great decision
Taking this tour was an absolutely great decision. As part of one ticket, we could see The Residenz Palace, the Cathedral arcade terrace, The Cathedral, where we were at the organ loft, the Cathedral Museum, the Chamber of Curiosities, St. Peter's Museum and a couple of other places. It was just amazing. Everyone went through the all the buildings on their own, anyone who wanted could borrow an audio guide. In one part of the palace, there was an opportunity to take pictures wearing the costumes and dresses that looked like they were from the Renaissance. For me, the tour in the DomQuartier was the highlight of my visit to Salzburg.

Lots of climbing stairs and walking only to find the main attraction at end , the state rooms, were closed. Had to walk all back through to exit.

While I could not go inside fully, the full views of the exteriors and the partial views of the interiors gave me an essence of the place. Lovely!

Touring the Dom Quartier was definitely one of the highlights of our visit to Salzburg. The tour comprises several different areas such as the Residenz area which is a Palace as well as Salzburg Cathedral which is accessed from the second floor of the church right near the organ. Many stately rooms are featured as well as a small but beautiful museum in the Cathedral. Well worth a visit.

Make sure you buy the Salzburg card when visiting Salzburg as it gives you access to a few hidden areas when you visit certain places. When visiting the Dom Quartier, it allows access into the second levels of the cathedral.
It takes a couple of hours to walk through and see most of it. You can get an audio tour as well which I think is included with the Salzburg card.
Its fairly standard stuff when you go through and it sort of blends in altogether towards the end. Still worth seeing when in the Salzburg old town.
