This tunnel is clever and needed. Cars one side. Pedestrians the other. Means you can get through the mountains no trouble. We used it daily to get back to our B&B.

This is one of the main gates into Salzburg and was built in the 18th century. There are nice carvings on the wall, which is worth a photo shot.

I noticed this entrance as soon as I drove past it, it is just fabulous. The detail is gorgeous, it is one of these buildings that I'm sure gets looked over all the time but it caught my eye and I loved the position.

started 1764 and created a major short cut between these two sides of Salzburg. Right next to the famous horse wash, which is a must.

We were trying to find the entrance to the Monchsberg lift when we stumbled on the Sigmundstor. Quite impressive engineering fete and quite a good photo of an old town landmark. Just beyond the gate is St. Blaze Church and the famous horse well (Pferdesschemme).

I just passed it slowly with my car Well tunnel as tunnel :o) Impresive that it was build in mid of 18th century. And ofcourse is decorated. I dont think you will spend there a lot of time.
