The Best City in Austria. One could easily spend a summer relaxing here. All of the Altstadt, the charming Old Town, is a must see and can be easily seen by strolling and walking. Mozarts home, the churches, the buildings, narrow streets, a lunch at...More

I liked this nice romantic city. Nice and clean streets, lots of flowers and some cafeterias with delicious cakes. Good to go there at hot days and just sit under umbrella and enjoy the day.

Totally loved every bit of the time we spent here - I and friends. One of my best experiences was when we were joined by local while we were trying to learn a song that someone was trying to teach us. Felt so much warmth...More

Excellent place to visit lots of eating places. Look for side streets where cheaper. Get out early to Mozart museum and castle as gets very busy. Look for street market today's was Italian, where we had an Italian mix platter for one and a bottle...More

Set against the backdrop of a mountain with the Salzburg castle on it, the Altstadt (literally: "old town") is beautiful, romantic and alive with culture and history. Be sure to visit Mozart's birth house and also do some shopping. There are many lovely restaurants here...More

Me and my wife spent the day here (today). There are lots of quaint shops and restaurants set in amongst narrow picturesque streets. There is also music wherever you go from the street musicians. A trip up to the castle is well worth it with...More

If you are a Sound of Music fan, you would definitely recognise this place, it is very clean although slightly noisy as it is near the road.

I'm traveling to Salzburg over Christmas. How can I see the mountains without skiing? Are there still mountain tours or sound of music tours

I took a Sound of Music tour and we stopped at an area where there were pretty mountain views. The one advantage to taking a SOM tour is that you do see some areas outside of Salzburg that you might not otherwise see if you... More
Hi, just wondering where to stay in Salzburg? We will be a family of 4, 2 adults, 2 teenage children travelling there for the first time. Initially we were going to stay in an apartment, but now considering a hotel as they may be more centrally located. Many of the apartments also seem to be located outside of the main centre. Ideally we like to be close to restaurants and cafes, with sights able to be easily reached. Thanks in advance, Jo
