Well, if you are in Salzburg and you do not go there it is really a pity. This is the place to visit in this town, the fortress which appeared in so many movies, some of them really famous ... You'd better take the cable...More

We only walked around the castle. Didn't go to the museum. But if you want to see beautiful views of the city and surrounding country side you must go up.

The trip up to the fortress on the funicular was a treat and the view from the top of the fortress tower was spectacular. Do stop at The Panorama Restaurant to have a cocktail and drink in nature's majesty!

Castle is worth seeing but the individual displays in the castle museum are not in English. There are English descriptions for overall themes or topics but most of the individual items have only German descriptions. There is absolutely no excuse for this oversight.

Entering the castle is not free. You buy a general ticket to go up. Walking around the grounds and touring part of the castle is included. There is an extra fee for the "complete" tour of the inside the castle. It's well... More

I'm not sure, there weren't any long lines to get up the funicular to the fortress even though it was a holiday weekend and a festival was going on in the streets below the fortress. But my experience all around the area is... More
