Take a stroll up middle of the hill and hitch a ride up with the tram. Midway you can capture lovely sceneries of the city and the other side of the hills. Too crowded if you go during Super High peak tourist season. Paid for all entrance and waited for hours. Finally gave up. Instead of just collecting tickets revenue,... More

This fortress is one of the "must see" in Salzburg. It is very nice and large fortress with museum focused on history and also with some guides (you have to pay for them in addition). From the fortress is very nice view on the Salzburg and the surroundings. You can go there by foot or you can use the funicular.

I visited the Fortress in the evening and the sun was setting. A tram brings you uphill to the Fortress. The view was amazing and spectacular overlooking Salzburg city. The lovely experience of attending a concert at the Fortress was special and unforgettable. Glad that I did it! You could also plan to have dinner at the Fortress before the... More

The Festung Hohensalzburg is one of those places you ought to visit in Salzburg although disabled access is limited. Mind you I wouldn't mind not having access to the torture chamber if I were disabled. They can torture somebody else. In fact the torture chamber may well have been a storage room where somebody decided to deposit a job lot... More

The fortress itself is quite nice and has a small museum to walk through that shows some history which is nice. The view of the city from the fortress is great, i recommend going there when the sun is still up and leaving when the sun goes down so you will be able to see the city at a day... More

Don't miss it! Go in the morning and plan at least half a day, there are plenty to see and do! From the stunning views from the top of the castle to the very interesting exhibitions and museums inside. Tip: after you are done don't go back down with the Funicular, take the 45 min hike to the Augustiner-Bräu brewery.... More

NIce vernaculum journey up to the fortress which the children enjoyed. There was allot to see within the location and we spent an enjoyable few hours there. There were some little tourist shopping stalls which were actually well priced.

The most we appreciated the view over the roof top and hills surrounding whole Salzburg. It was a bit too cold that day though so we could enjoy it fully, had a look in their museum, shop and went for a lunch in the restaurant.
