The Fortress is an incredible place. Not only because of it's history, but because of it's immense size. Interesting architecture, many unique artifacts and the guided tour sections offered good information about why things were done the way they were. One of the highlights of...More

Fabulous visit - worth taking the time to do so. Beautiful views, full of interesting history and a wonderful visit/experience. Take the funicular railway up to it and ensure you have your camera with you!

The views are totally stunning, was totally worth the hike up there to find out there are cable cars. Worth paying the basic priced ticket to go inside, the museum have more than I expected.

It is a hike to get up there but pretty. I think we missed the amazing view opportunity. I don’t think I would plan a trip around seeing it but it was a fun afternoon date.

Great tour you can do at your own pace. The museum was so much more than I expected it to be. We also ate at the Burgschenke restaurant at the top ... highly recommended with great food and lovely people

The trip up the incline is a little pricy but the views are spectacular, both of the city and the snow capped Alps on the other side. If you are fit you can walk instead of the incline.

The Salzburg Fortress is a must visit location when in Salzburg. Set aside at least two or three hours to fully enjoy all the different rooms and displays available. The museum and battalion displays are excellent. The puppet room should be interesting to young children....More

If you like history and architecture.... Then the Fortress is for you!!! It was so interesting how they can build such an amazing structure with the rudimentary technology and equipment! The dungeon was a bit startling... The original shackles are still hanging on the walls!...More

I don't think admission is free before 10:00 am. Admission for the all inclusive ticket is reduced if you purchase before 10:00. However, if you purchase online, the all inclusive ticket is not as expensive. As well, if you... More
