The fortress was not a great visit for us because of the lack of accessibility and signage. It is confusing about how to get to the train that takes you up the mountain. When you get there you have walk up steep stairs to enter...More

Definitely worth a visit. Interesting and varied exhibits, well presented. And no need to climb uphill...

Allow about 2 hours to visit the Fortress. We travelled to it via the Funicular railway; it is walkable, but quite a steep climb. Interesting to see the Fortress itself, but on a clear day, the views are worth the trip alone!

We ride the funicular up the very steep cliff to the fortress, but there is a trail for those who prefer to climb. The fortress is huge and offers awesome views of Salzburg. There is much to see, and cafes for a beverage or lunch....More

Very beautiful castle where you can walk through, there you can find as well a chronological development of the castle with images right from the beginning, how it has been built during time.

The Fortress has everything going for it; lots to explore for young and old alike, lots of history, inexpensive, easy to find for obvious reasons and only a short walk from the old part of the city centre. Although you can get a discount online...More

You can't be in the city without climbing all the way to the top to enjoy the view and to have a cold beer with your loved ones it's another must.

I'm not sure, there weren't any long lines to get up the funicular to the fortress even though it was a holiday weekend and a festival was going on in the streets below the fortress. But my experience all around the area is... More
