    The Place in Graz
If you are very short of time then Schlossberg easily could be the only attraction/place to visit in Graz. Panoramic view, nice surrounding, historic buildings, good coffee. To get everything in one glimpse, 1h is ok, rushed though. To enjoy it, should be expected that 2+h would be needed.

    Napoleon and French Tourists
At Schloßberg, you can reach it by funicular railway , elevator, or on foot. We opted for the third option. We got tired on our way to the destination, but that's why we appreciated the beautiful view of Graz even more. Unfortunately, from the once unconquerable castle destroyed by Napoleon, only the old clock tower - Uhrturm - remains. Around Uhrturm, a group of French tourists was walking, while the sound of polka and yodeling echoed through the air, produced by a gentleman with an accordion. He seemed to be looking at the French tourists somewhat sourly. I'm not sure why – maybe because of Napoleon, or maybe because they hadn't put a single cent into the box in front of him.

    Amazing views
Nice place to walk and enjoy a dry day out. The view from the top to the city are stunning. You can take the stairs, the lift, the cable car. Along that place there are restaurants and coffee bars to enjoy some food and drinks.

We had a short stop on our way from Ljubljana to Vienna. Honestly, we had no idea what we would would find in Graz, so this was a great surprise. One moment we were in a rather quick moving elevator, the next, we were standing by a beautiful clock and looking over the city. We didn't get to explore much, but what we did was lovely. I would certainly go back to se more of it.

if you are in Graz and you have time, walk up the Schlossberg. there are many paths and roads up the hill. but the most interesting way is up the stairs. at every turn you have a different view of Graz.
once on the Schlossberg you have wonderful views of Graz in each direction.
at the very top there is a grassy area, which is perfect for a picnic.
concerts, plays and operas are shown in the Kassematten during the summer months.
if you cannot walk up, you can take the elevator (from Schlossbergplatz to the clock tower) or the venicular (being renovated until sometime in the summer 2022) to the Kassematten and bell tower.
two restaurants are on the Schlossberg - Aiola Upstairs near the clock tower and Schlossberg Restaurant near Kassematten.

A highlight of Graz, the Schlossberg offers fantastic views of the city. You can reach it by lift or on foot (either via 260 stairs on the east side, or a switchback concrete path on the west side).

Definitely worth spending some time up there, especially on a warm, sunny day. Take a picnic. Enjoy a drink at one of the cafes/restos. Sit on one of the many benches and read a book. Listen to a busker playing an accordion.

This is always a ‘must do’ when we come to Graz. The trip up the ultra modern furnicular is the same price as a single tram ticket. This is god to know as it would be included in a 24 hr public transport ticket.

Always lovely to walk around the top. There is a guy asking for signatures for world peace and then asks for a donation. Beware.

We love the stairs going down the front but they were closed (it was a balmy 8 degrees and no ice) but there’s a road at the back, which is ideal, if you want to go to the double spiral staircase next.

We went to the top twice because my son wanted to see Graz in a different time - first with the Schlossbergbahn in the evening and second time with the lift in the morning. The next time will try the stairs but the weather was so cold and don't have enough time. The most interesting thing is the Clock tower and the beautiful scenery from above.

If your legs can handle it, be sure to climb the stairs. If you are young at heart, go down the slide to the bottom. Very good coffee in the restaurant by the clock tower. The prices are, of course, suitable for the serious attraction of the city, but not excessive. A must visit if you are in the center of Graz.

Short stop on Sunday to check the city, and Schlossberg was one of the stops. It offers many ways to reach the top, by stairs, elevator or tunnel. We choose stairs, as the tunnel was closed at that time. Nice ascent on many stars, and already while ascenting if offer a nice view. The top was even better, we checked the castle and everything.
We also saw they offer slide to get down, but bad thing was, not much info were offered about it, so we used stairs to go down.
Nice and tidy spot, with street artists, great view to the city and arranged remains, and even a event place. And the weather was sunny, so the experience was all in all great.

We came through a tunnel with different colors of light illuminating it, and then through a beautiful park. You can reach the top by walking the many stairs (that's how we went back down) and by cable car. There is also a tunnel through which you can get to the bottom - Schlossbergrutsche - The Slide Graz.
There is a wonderful view of the city, and Schlossberg itself is a true oasis of peace. There were not many tourists when we visited, but I believe that everyone can find their own peaceful corner and enjoy the view, reading, or talking.
Be sure to visit, it is located not far from the city center.

This is a lovely place to walk around. Because I had work all day, I woke up early in the morning to go see anywhere that would be open in the wee hours. This was such a nice place to wander around in take in the scenes.
