We stopped im Durnstein with our Uniworld River Cruise.

My wife and I enjoyed our walk around the town.

We stumbled on this cute wine shop which had alfresco seating with several enjoying a glass of wine. I loved the cute decorations that they displayed.

As our boat was leaving shortly I couldnt stay to enjoy a lovely glass of local wine.

You can sample wines in here or even buy wine by the glass for 3 Euro. The lady who owns the shop is so sweet and very helpful and I ended up buying a nice bottle to take home. It is so nice when you go into a store and feel so comfortable that you want to buy.

This place is a nice wineshop and a place where you can taste lot of wines from Wachau. The small tasting is for free, but you can have a glass of wine for a reasonable price.

We had a friend take us around and the place was simply amazing. Be sure to take water for The climb up to the ruins is a great time but could be a little treacherous in the rain or wet weather. After the climb up and a few pictures we came down for a bite to eat

We were caught in a very sudden severe rainstorm in July and were sheltering under the archway to Durnstein with about 30 other people. We spotted this vinotek and ran inside (already drenched). We had a nice glass of wine (3 euro each). We were the only customers because of the rain. Then we started talking and the lovely lady host told us all about the town and her family and proceeded gave us quite a few free tastings of other wines. If we weren't looking for shelter we may have passed by. Instead we sat out the storm and had a great experience.

I was somewhat late in introducing this place, because I could not find the name card. We visited Durnstein last April (my third visit to this small but wonderful wine town after being on board of the Rhine Cruise ship from Melk) and of course tried several wines in three places in a day. This tasting place welcomed us and the madam was very kind to make us try four kinds of wonderful Durnstein wine including the top wines in this area. I would like to recommend you to try this place.
