Sant Esteve Church is the main one in Andorra-la-Vella, the most important town in Andorra. It is a Romanesque Church built in the 12th Century. In fact, it has the typical bell tower of this period, which you can see also in some little churches in Lleida Region. The church was remodelled in the 20th Century, specially the bell tower and the entrance. Inside, you can see the original apse and some pictures. Ok.

Beautiful ancient church with glorious stained glass windows. I do prefer to light an actual candle if possible.

We passed this church on the way to the Centro Historic. As with many of the small villages, etc., this church was similar to many seen before elsewhere; however, each one has its own unique look and feel. While we were unable to enter the church on the day we visited, it was still nice to view the exterior.

I viewed this as the highlight of my visit to Andorra la Vella. It is a serene and beautiful place. The Mass was a mixture of Catalan and Spanish. I was delighted to be able to take part.

It is in the way to the old parliament.
Inside this church is simple and no special items to high but outside is very interesting architecture.

It's worth ducking in here to get a moment of calm. This historic church has stunning stained glass windows which reflect coloured light on to the benches inside in quite an other worldly way. There's also a fine side chapel. Not many people seem to wander inside but it is of course completely free to do so.

What a great find! As I don't speak Spanish, I was unable to understand the hours I could visite. Luckily, I was staying right down the road so I walked past it multiple times.

The exterior was definitely the highlight for me. The church was picturesque in a way the other churches in the area weren't. The inside was lovely, but I especially appreciate the small room on the left when you entered via the main door. For me, this made the whole church worth visiting.

From the outside this looks like a lovely old church, you may be surprised how modern it is once you get inside. The stained glass windows in particular are wonderful to see. Entry is free, and it’s not a very big church so you’ll be able to see it in just a few minutes.

Andorra's Romanesque churches are in my opinion one of this tiny principality's most valuable attractions. And the church of Sant Esteve in the old part of the city is a nice example of this type of architecture even though it has had some modern alterations. Definitely worth a look while walking through the historic part of town.
One recommendation would be to also visit the church of Santa Coloma just outside of the city on the way to the Spanish border, it's an excellent example of an Andorran Romanesque church with an unusual round bell tower.

On a recent trip to Andorra my wife and I stayed in Andorra La Vella...It is a beautiful city with a good amount of restaurants, attractions, shopping, historic sights, sidewalk cafes, and great mountain views....

One of the days in Andorra La Vella we went on one of our sightseeing walks and would up in front of the Sant Esteve Church. It is a beautifully maintained church that is very photogenic....In fact in Andorra there are many historic churches that are worthy of a visit and taking photos of...And Sant Esteve is definitely one of them.
