    Marvellous monastery
Staying in Hotel on outskirts of Paphos. Decided we would have a trip out. As the buses are so cheap we fancied a trip to the monastery. Asked aT old Paphos town bus terminus how long journey would take. “40 minutes” we were advised. Bus on the way there sounded a bit like an old tractor but still completed the journey in 30 minutes. Absolutely stunning buildings and gardens. Inside the monastery chapel is beautiful. We walked up, what we christened the “Stairway to Heaven”. 337 steps up to summit. My wife counted. Sad really, I know 😜 with the heat better to pace yourself. We stopped about halfway up for a picnic. Recommend a visit to this beautiful holy site. Bus on the way back to old Paphos went like a rocket. 20 minutes and we were at bus station. A lovely day all round. So glad we decided on a day out.

    If you’re in the area.
Was in the area so decided to visit! Cheap entrance price! Paying once gives you access to everything so keep your ticket, don’t pay again! The little museums are small. Small cafe and plenty of parking. It’s something fun and different to look around! I wouldn’t come out of my way to visit.

    November visit.
A lot of Cyprus monasteries are hard to get to but this one is just a few kilometres from Paphos along a good road. The car park area has a decent-looking cafe and the whole site is well tended. You could find the landscaping and varied planting interesting in itself and not have to pay any entry fee. The cliff face with the original carved sanctuary is fascination. There is a small fee to enter this section and it is rewarded with some beautiful original sacred artwork. I don't think this is a 2 to 3 hour visit. Just over 1 hour is plenty.

    Peaceful and beautiful
Definitely well worth a visit to this beautiful and peaceful monastery. Sadly the museum was closed when we went but we were able to go into the magnificent church and to admire the rich colours of the frescoes which are hundreds of years old. As an added bonus, there are plenty of very friendly monastery cats who are willing to accompany you on your visit.

Magnificant place with extraordinary history. In museum we saw 1000 year old book! And frescos from old monastery were a real masterpiece. Nice and quiet place!

Very relaxing and beautiful views. Monastery was incredible. Lots of cats - friendly and if you’re not a cat lover don’t worry as they keep a distance unless you want to let them.

Located up in the hills about 20 minutes north of Paphos is this monastery complex and caves with paintings by Saint Neofytos himself. There are a couple of gift shops and a small cafe (although I stood there for three minutes ringing the bell and was completely ignored and so left without being served!) I was not enormously impressed by the place actually. There is a small museum displaying a number of 19th century books of church music and the monastery buildings themselves which are unremarkable. For highlight is the Enkleistra - three cave like rooms which were inhabited by Neofytos in the 12th century the walls are covered in frescoes and although quite damaged are nevertheless beautiful and interesting. It won't take you long to see them!.

Serene and beautiful area. Interesting visit with a friendly man at the booth keen to share his knowledge. You won't spend more than an hour here though
