How High?

This place is stunning but not for the faint of heart. Some of the steps are very narrow and steep but it's totally worth in to see inside this piece of history.

This was an "optional" extra of an RSD tour - there's a sense of achievement when you get to the top and the views are quite spectacular (even if it was a little foggy!) Unfortunately, one of our group got to the top and came down again with no problems, then slipped going to the toilet (which cost 2 TL... More

We visited St Hilarion on a very cold and windy day and although the weather wasn't great it was an interesting place to visit and worth the climb to appreciate the stunning views. Make sure you wear comfortable climbing shoes because some of the steps are very steep and unstable.

You can almost drive up to the door, there are few spaces right in front, opposite the coffee shop, more below. If you drive right up it might be difficult to turn around. The path is full of steps which increase in difficulty up to the second level which gives very good views- only sporty attempt the third level leading... More

This is an amazing place after a long and winding road. It is cut from the side of the mountain and has a history covering centuries. There are a total of 400 steps to reach the top but the views from the first and second levels are still worth the visit. The whole of Kyrenia is spread out below you... More

The castle is on three levels, the first two being reached by a steady climb. However to reach the third level it is quite a steep climb but the views from the top are spectacular. The castle is quite spread out and mainly the outer walls have been preserved. I would recommend a visit here.

Best to do this in the spring or Autumn, gets very hot in Cyprus during the summer months! You need to be reasonably fit as there is quite a bit of climbing steep steps, particularly if you intend going to the very top watchtower. The views are absolutely stunning, plenty of opportunities for photographs, but take some water, there are... More

Walking through the corridors high up in the castle I had the nicest experience. A little cloud also passed through a corridor. The view is breathtaking.

An evocative place with wild scenery. Cool in winter when we visited, but the views were spectacular from the top.
