This is a small plaza area near downtown Luxembourg, an easy walk from the Place d'Armes. The most notable feature is a statue of Princess Charlotte. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but it's pretty easy to walk through it on our way between say the Place d'Armes and the Cathedral of Notre Dame, so it's a nice stop for a few minutes if you're nearby.

Once you walk old town of Luxembourg - or Ville Haute if you like you most likely will get to this square an in the Clairefontaine square you will find the statue of the grand Duchess Charlotte - one of the landmarks of Luxembourg.
Also from this square you have several options to continue your walk towards:
- city museum - 5 min walking
- place Guillaume II - 3 min walks.
- Palace of the Grand Dukes of Luxembourg - 5 min walking
this just to mention a few.
Also there are restaurants in walking distance if you feel like grabbing a bite.
Overall if you are walking through Ville Haute it is worth stopping in this square to take a few pictures and you can continue your walk. (its free of charge, accessible from several directions and also parking is available in like 5-8 min walking distance).

Nice little place in the heart of Luxembourg, in the centre is a statue of Grand Duchess
Charlotte (1896-1985); and who became a symbol of independence of Luxembourg during the II war 1940-45. On april 1945 Charlotte returned home to Luxembourg to a rapturous welcome from her people.
Behind the statue, in the past time was the abbey Clairefontaine,
today, there are ministerial offices, secretary of the state;
before, was there my school Ste. Sophie, the school is now on an other place.

Most squares in Luxembourg were happening places with people, cafes and people watching. This place appeared not very vibrant but is probably due to the construction going on. Only saw the statue and that was about it.

There were some improvement works going on around when we visited. However, this is a lovely square with park benches to enjoy some relaxation.

Place Clairefontaine is located near the Cathedrale Notre-Dame in the center of Luxembourg City. The name of the square comes from a place of shelter, a refuge belonging to the abbey of Clairefontaine which is near the Belgian border. A monument in honour of Grand Duchess Charlotte (1896-1985) was erected on this square in 1990. It is calm and clean place to take a rest for pedestrians.

After walking round Casemates and the Grand Ducal Palace i stumbled across this square.
It is quite small but very pretty and quiet. It has the statue of the Grand Duchess Charlotte in the centre.

After touring the Grand Ducal Palace, we decided to go to Ernster bookshop located on the Place Clarefontaine because I wanted to find some books on Luxembourg and the Grand Ducal Family. Directly across the road from the bookshop is the statue of Grand Duchess Charlotte, one of the most famous Luxembourgers and one of the key players in the Grand Duchy's rich history. The statue is beautiful and befitting of a woman of her stature. Across from the statue of Grand Duchess Charlotte is another, more modern statue of which I do not know the name... This Place is quaint and peaceful, however there isn't a lot of activity here and I would quicker recommend the Place d'Armes or Place Guillaume II.
