What can be said about this chateau that has not already been said? Probably nothing but here goes... As we flew into Luxembourg, the air route from England passes right over Vianden and, from the air, it strikes a stunning pose already...so when we pulled into the village on the bus, it just commands such a striking position, to almost... Enjoyed our afternoon here! Could have gained more if an English guide book was available as very few texts were easy to read with limited French and German. The views were grand all the same and it's beautifully kept. Worth a €7 entrance fee.

A beautiful old castle that had fallen into disrepair, but has been reconstructed. Still ongoing work. You get a spectacular view of the castle when you come around a corner from behind a hill and see this giant castle looming over you high up on a rock. Inside is still pretty bare, but they have exhibitions there (they were exhibiting... More

Masses of Dutch tourists can't be wrong. The completely restored castle with its museum in it is in deed a must do when coming to Luxembourg. Try to go when there's a medieval festival. You will love it. Btw the "city" of Vianden is also quite picturesque.

Go -especially with children for a nice visit of a fully restored castle. It is worth seeing and visting while learning about the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg.

The entire village of Vianden was so beautiful and the walk up to the Castle was lovely and the snow added to the enchantment. The history of the caste was very interesting and the audio guide is a must to understand and get an insight into the history and what you are seeing. Interesting history. We had only a few... More

Vianden Castle holds very strong position in Luxembourg top 3. It is nicely renovated, partially furnished. Located on the hill overlooking the river and the city. Worth seeing. It also hosts temporary exhibitions- we were lucky to see Rembrandt's drawings so top class art.

I was in Luxembourg for a short weekend with my friend from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening. We decided to go on Saturday afternoon on our full day in Luxembourg. It is around an hour journey altogether single way, train journey to Ettelbruck and bus journey to Vianden. It was mid January and it was snowing! So pretty. Travel was... More

We were staying in Luxembourg so decided to get the train/bus to Vianden. It was very easy and straight forward to get to and also cheap. It cost us €4 for a day ticket on public transport. The bus drops you off at the bottom of Vianden. The walk up to the chateau is very steep, we were shattered by... More

The castle sits over the town of Vianden and forms a splendid backdrop to the town from most locations. You can drive up to a spot near to the castle to visit, take a steep walk up from town or, I think preferably, catch the chairlift up and walk down to the castle. From the castle surrounds there are wonderful... More
