For your 50DK you receive a quick 10 min intro to thev village then a walk around an old doctor"s house crammed with artefacts and info boards about the history of the village. An enjoyable 30 minutes.

The museum is in the centre of town, in an old turf roofed building that used to be the doctors surgery and is currently being re-organised and cataloged by a new curator. We were lucky enough to get a personal guided tour by the new curator of the current site along with an overview of his plans for a new main exhibition room.

Interesting view to the islands past

Well set up exhibits on two levels document the maritime history of the islands. Some of the costumes were a bit shabby but that was the reality of life in this harsh environment. The whaling related exhibits are not for the squeamish but remember this is a historically essential food supply for the islanders, not a delicacy as in Japanese sushi.
