By taking the Barrakka lift and turning left, from its much more popular big brother Upper Barraka, a short worthwhile walk will take you to the more tranquil lower gardens.Superb views of Grand Harbour await you but from a slightly different perspective. You can also view Valletta's magnificent victory bell commemorating the island dead of WWII. Walking through to the other... More

Like the Upper Barrakka Gardens, the views from here are across the harbour. From here, you get great views of the Siege Bell war memorial and supine statue next to it as well as the Fort Ricasoli. The garden itself is nothing special but has an arched covered structure at the eastern end and a memorial halfway along it. There... More

The view from the gardens overlooking the Grand Harbour are stunning. There are plenty of seats along the front to sit and watch.

If you head through the gates of Valletta and travel appropriately 800m in a straight line, any turning off to the right will take you down to the lower gardens. Ideal for some quiet time with ample seating and a cafe near by. There are also some sneaky toilets in the corner with no queues, but keep them to yourselves.

Much better is to go to the Upper Barrakka Gardens, nicer views, but little more crowded. It`s worth to see the beautiful panorama on the Grand Harbour.

These are not large gardens but green, peaceful and pleasant with good views over Grand Harbour and the Siege Bell Memorial towards Fort St Elmo. It is not as busy as the Upper Barrakka Gardens, there are benches to sit on and relax and enjoy the view. There is a pillared monument (a mausoleum I believe) here too. There is... More

Getting closer to real Valletta life? Go from Upper Barrakka Gardens direction North-East via San Ursula,San Paul's and/or Merchant Street (shopping area) to this lovely park. It only takes 10-15 min. to have one of the nicest views on Valletta and its surrounding from an amazing setting. And you are pretty alone there. Authentic bars and cafes closeby.
