It's a gentle walk from all the shops along the waterfront.Unless it's raining out, it's a great walk up the hill to get the view of the bell tower and the view of the harbors.

This is worth the walk to find and arrive around 12noon to hear/watch the bell rung. It does make you think about the last war and what the islanders went through. We visited on our walk around the fortifications.

The Great Siege of the Knights of St. John left very little of Ft. St. Elmo standing, but enough has been restored to give a context for a walk through time. The National War Museum has rooms of which each is devoted to a separate siege, such is the long, eventful and enduring history of this rugged island.

This was an interesting history of Malta but I did find it a bit drawn out as you have to move through several buildings. The projected presentation of WW2 was very well done

A wonderful day spent here. The Big Bus is best way around if you only have the day or Solo traveller. Took both circle tours around the Island. The Bus stops at Mdina Glass Factory worth a look not over priced. Interesting to see the tourist resorts built up around Golden Bay compared to Old town and small villages on... More

Malta, especially La Valetta, is to much extent a natural rock fortress or erected big fortresses. You need a few days to explore them, like the Old Medina or Valetta.

If you have an interest in armour, the Knights Hospitilers, St John Ambulance and it's history or you just like history then this is a must if you are visitingredients Malta. The best way to get to Valetta is possibly by bus, it was for me, and St John's Co-Cathedral where the exhibition is is just a short walk from... More

Walk up the hill a bit and you are there or use the horse taxi/transport for a bit of fun. Good views and photo opportunity. We got really hot walking - take some water or stop at the café nearby.
