Description:

The Carmelite friars resident at the historical Priory in Mdina invite you...

The Carmelite friars resident at the historical Priory in Mdina invite you to experience both the spiritual and the daily way of life in this spectacular 17th century priory. The Carmelite Priory offers the unique opportunity of visiting various rooms that include a decorative refectory, an authentic kitchen, a typical friars cell, as well as a sober oratory, amongst others to get a taste of the spiritual, artistic, historical and cultural heritage of Carmelites. The impressive church also forms part of the same visit. The visit is always guided by a resident friar or by a "Friend of the Priory" The Carmelite Priory is the first priory in Malta to be open to visitors in an attempt to share with contemporary people the Carmelite heritage handed down to us from one generation to the other. Carmelite friars living here share their lifestyle with visitors who wish to pay a visit in the historical spaces, or to spend days of recollection, organise spiritual and cultural events, or participate in the courses organised by the Carmelite Institute Malta at the Priory in conjunction with the Faculty of Theology at University of Malta and the Pastoral Formation Institute.

A privilege.

We considered ourselves fortunate to be allowed in. This is a silent refuge. Beautiful and tranquil.

It looked very nice but we were unable to gain entrance as it was closed. Very disappointed. Next time we visit Malta we will have to put it on our agenda again.

If is open go after the Cathedral. You can feel the peace in a touristic spot and not crowded. There some nice pieces of art

While walking around Mdina, I stumbled upon the Carmelite Priory. It was small, but incredibly beautiful and very peaceful. Do not just walk past it!

Located in the central part of the old city of Mdina, this is a lovely priory. The entire place is tranquil and the religious artifacts within are quite beautiful, too. Recommended.

Cathedral of Malta's old capital, now the 'Silent City'. Fabulous in adornment, awesome in scale and steeped in worship. In practice, tickets must be bought at the nearby museum for which they are also valid; and the museum deserves time.

This well maintained building is full of surprises. It is very atmospheric ( limited light) and full of side altars some dedicated to Out Lady and St Agatha . Very impressive paintings and statues.

Yesterday I visited this lovely church. Malta seems to have so many impressive churches and if you are in Mdina have a look at this one. It's kool.

Thanks God, this church is not so popular than the cathedral. You can have some really quite moments, in this very nice church.
