OPEN MONDAY - SUNDAY from 09.00 Till 17.00Hrs (last admission at 16.30Hrs). Ta' Kola Windmill in Xaghra, Gozo, is one of the few surviving windmills on the Maltese Islands dating back to the Knights' Period. Its origins go back to 1725 during the magistracy of Grand Master Manoel de Vilhena (1722-36). Nowadays, the windmill houses one of the largest known collections of tools, some of which were manufactured by the last miller who lived inside the mill. The site offers a glimpse into the traditional rural life of the locals during the past centuries.

The windmill is in the vicinity of the Ggantija Temples and worth a visit while visiting the temples. We had a monthly pass that gave us entry, but our impression from hearing others at the admission desk is that the windmill does not sell tickets;...More

We went here after the Giganti Temples as it was included in the admission price. Nice exhibits and a lovely climb to the top. Easier to go up than down though. Take time to read the information about the family who started it all (Grech)...More

The windmill is right across the road from the much more famous unesco heritage temple site but didn't seem anywhere near as frequented - despite being included in the ticket price. The museum is simple but fascinating, showing the place of the windmill in gozo...More

It's worth paying the €9 at Ggigantji temples to see both sites. This is an interesting look at the workings of an old mill and you can see both living and working parts including the mill and sails mechanism at the top.
