It was fantastic to go into a "living" museum that didn't have props.
Climbing up the tower to the top was a real treat.

It was not possible to go up the tower. Inside there was nothing really to see and all explanations were either in Georgian or Russian.

I would highly recommend this place. It would be interesting not only for people who fond of sports but for everyone. Michael Hergiani was truly a legend between mounteners. He saved a lot of people and for this day holds records which no one after him could even repeat. He was born in this house, and lived there all his life. There some interesting artefacts like his equipment, pictures of that time. You can see his room. There's a Swanetian tower you can climb in. Also there's s a book you can leave your comments and experiences about that place. Also the guide is really helpful and gives you interesting perspectives. Seriously, if you' re in Mestia don't miss this place.

A very good little museum that shows how much can be achieved with a solid collection of photographs and Khegieni belongings. English signage needs to be improved though.Don't give up if it looks closed - the guy with the keys lives next to the museum.

This is a small museum dedicated to the greatest Georgian alpinist - Mikheil Khergiani. Here you will find out how this man lived, with its personal belongings, achievements. You will also see how Svani people lived in the past. In addition, there is a small climbing wall inside the tower.

With very modest budget this museum is informative, well built and interesting.
Michail K. was a great alpinist and his heritage speaks for itself. You can also climb the Svan tower of thr museum, it's way safer than the Svan Tower located further in the village. And it's free of charge.
