I decided to visit Krossneslaug despite the long and cumbersome drive after having read some raving reviews online. I guess a lot of other people had read those reviews too because the pool was extremely busy when I visited.

The location was lovely and everything was very clean and well organised but I found the pool simply too busy. There were plenty of families with children (ugh) and also a group of youngsters who basically hogged the jacuzzi the whole time I was there. Granted, I visited in July, which is the high season.

That’s the reason why Krossneslaug was not my favourite hotpot in Westfjords although in advance I fully expected it to be. Perhaps it is just over-hyped?

The scenery in Strandir is gorgeous though so the coast is well worth a visit. And if you manage to go when it is quiet, you can have a wonderful experience in Krossneslaug too.

Loved Krossneslaug geothermal pool - super clean and well kept. Friendly staff and wonderful surroundings. Unforgettable experience - especially having the pool to ourselves! <3 Wonderful Westfjords!

Been here a couple times before. It's out in nowhere. Just relax and look over the ocean and the big vawes. Showers and toilets are clean. Bumpy road but its definitely worth it.

I feel a bit of a fraud posting on here simply because I have been so often to Krossneslaug that part of my heart is, and will always be, in that most beautiful spot.

There is something truly magical about this pool - the location, the view, the people.

The drive to Norðurfjörður is one of the most scenic in Iceland (I have travelled extensively in Iceland so can say that with some conviction). In every weather, in every light in every season it has something new to see.

The water in the pool is perfectly warm to majestically float, often for hours, maybe chatting, maybe reading, maybe just being in the moment. The sound of the ocean waves against the adjacent beach is calming and hypnotic. The little hot pot next to the pool is a great place to share travellers’ stories.

The pool is also accessible 24/7, which adds to the charm of this wonderful place.

That there is are still gems like this in Iceland is remarkable and comforting. And I would say in response to some of the descriptions on here, think of Krossneslaug (and the adjacent Kaffi Norðurfjörður) not as a detour, but as a destination.

I am leaving Iceland now but I will be back to Krossneslaug before long.

Sadly the fog rolled in that made it a tough drive. This probably made the pool even more appreciated We went about 21:00 and stayed until about 24:00. It was totally relaxing listening to the ocean waves crashing we got odd glimpses through the fog.
It was 700 to get in (not 7000 as someone has said) worth every penny.
Lots of people were turning up as we were leaving, hopefully using the honesty box in the changing rooms.
Warning, you are expected to shower naked before bathing and there is no light in the changing room which was interesting.

This is truly a unique place. Sitting on the edge of the ocean in the middle of nowhere in the magical Westfjords of Iceland is this amazing hot tub. 7000 ISK per person. Heated changing room. Don't miss this m

A swimmingpool unlike any other! Not far from Nordurfjördur, easy to find, as it is by the road. Good value for money (unlike some others) and with a stunning view of the atlantic.

Krossneslaug is a swimming pool directly near the ocean. Of course it's still something special to swim in a pool in such a location, but unfortunately it's no secret anymore. When I was there I counted at least 10 cars on the parking area and this means too many people for this small pool.
So, if you are staying in the area go there and enjoy, but I would not do a detour just to get there.(it's about 90km gravel road from Holmavik)

It looks like an ordinary swimming pool from a distance, but there is more than meets the eye. A soak there feels great on a body worn out from hiking and the ocean views from the pool are fantastic. It costs about $7 US, which is a bargain compared to Blue Lagoon at about $120. Sure, you don’t get slippers and a robe, or an algae face mask, but for the price it cannot be beat.
