Very pretty gardens and relaxing for a stroll. Also free admission to great for those on a budget. After taking a stroll through here check out the swimming pool next door, that's a fab day out with all the different thermo pools.

Get a bus from the city and get off at the Hilton or Reykjavik lights Hotel. Very safe place to stroll and breathe in the fresh Icelandic air. Go for a swim in the outdoor public swimming pool, the water is lovely and warm.

The bus from downtown takes you right there. The pool is free for seniors. The botanic gardens is a short walk away. Very nice, even at the end of September!

I was quite impressed with this park. First of all, the entrance is free. Secondly all their flowers, plants and trees are labeled. I have never seen such a thing before. It makes it easy to identify all these flora. There were so many beautiful flowers. They were all arranged. Each one having their own spot and their own name.... More

We only visited the thermal pools as it was wet and windy, it prices have gone up quite a lot since I last visited, but Iceland isn't cheap anyway, once you get over the showering naked syndrome its very enjoyable. You can hire a towel and there is a cafe to have a drink after the swim.

My seven year old son and I were camping at the Reykjavik City Campsite, so it was very easy for us to go for a walk in the park after supper. We also went to the pool in the morning and had a lot of fun. The admission was included with our Reykjavik City Cards. School age children are required... More

Open fields, winding paths, ponds, birds, flowers and sculptures. This is a part of Reykjavik worth discovering. There is a low key zoo your children might enjoy.

We spent hours walking the city streets, admiring the Hallgrimskirkja from every angle and in every light, pausing by old houses, commenting how the city grew, but after all that, it was paradise to stroll through the park. Tranquil atmosphere, beautiful flower beds, and fun swimming area for grandchildren and people of all ages!

The botanical gardens (free entry) are well worth a stroll round, although not extensive. There is a lovely cafe in the middle which is (for Reykjavik) inexpensive. Hint - go for a standard coffee, where you can top it up again for free (as is the case in several cafe/bars). Nice soup there too. The swimming facilities are at the... More
